this is just how we do it, feel free to do it your own way!
why write letters?
because its fun! writing down communication is good for us, as it helps strengthen our bonds. we also like to decorate everything, which is super relaxing. it helps specific alters communicate clearly too. if a certain alter needs to tell someone else something specific, a letter can be a good way of doing this. or it can just be for positive silly things! it doesnt have to be serious at all (most of ours arent!)
what do you put in them?
we'll be making posts with more ideas, but it can be anything youd like! tags like #snailmail are good for basic inspiration. you can write about anything, tho we prefer to keep things lighthearted & positive in letters. some basic ideas include:
the weather
what youve done today
your favorite thing about who youre writing to
your favorites in general! like fave food, fave color
how you are feeling
how do you organize?
we have a system mailbox, where alters can drop off letters. next to it is a log that includes: who the letter is for, who its from, and the date it was put in the mailbox. when an alter fronts, they can check the mailbox log! if they have a letter, they can get it from the box & read it.
