Ohio Shakespeare Festival of Akron tickled that its "Romeo and Juliet" show is inspiration for "Opening Night" song on new Weezer SZNZ: Spring album.
The new album's "Opening Night" tune, whose melody is directly inspired by Vivaldi's "Spring" from "The Four Seasons," specifically mentions seeing "Romeo and Juliet" under the stars. The song's quirky opening starts out with an acoustic English folk music sound with these lyrics:
"One night out under the stars, one night out under the stars, with Romeo and Juliet."
"One night out under the stars, one night out under the stars. Have you seen this one yet?"
"Shakespeare makes me happy. Shakespeare makes me happy. So happy. And I'm happy to be with you."
The last four sentences repeat before the song starts to rock out Weezer-style, with the lyrics going on to name Shakespearean characters from other plays who make him happy, including Hamlet and Falstaff.
