Vera grew up an only child in London then moved to Canada with her parents in a now extinct wolf pack. She was set to marry the alpha when everything went wrong, as many things do in the supernatural world. It ended in blood and death. To this day she won't talk about it and hell hath no fury to anyone who dares bring it up. Vee doesn't like to get too personal as many people use backgrounds for their own leverage.
She triggered her curse by killing a convicted murderer from Cheyenne, WY. The male had broke into a young family's house for petty thievery and ended up slaughtering then all. Vee saw it on the news and couldn't get the images out of her head. Now she was haunted by the images of him begging for life before it was ripped away and punishes herself through starvation and binge drinking.
She's 25 now and doesn't really mix with anyone, but especially not vampires since she was attacked and tortured by one as a child oof. She has bitten many vampires without remorse over the years but that's her own secret.
She met Hayley and ran with her for awhile after she first turned, they got into a lot of scrapes, parties, etc as Vera couldn't bear the thought of facing her family again after purposefully triggering the curse. This act was shameful in their pack, so she was a runaway newbie werewolf in need of a friend. Hayley helped her more than her own family sometimes when that painful night every month came around. Vera will always be grateful to her and respects Hayley more than herself sometimes.
Vera's new in Mystic Falls, she doesn't know about Klaus and his plan of doom and gloom. She only knows Hayley and her parted ways because Vera needed to help save her pack and Hayley was headed to some supernatural town for some secret agenda that had to do with their werewolf gene. Of course she has heard of The Og vamp fam, who hasn't? Vera simply hasn't spent enough time around vampires to know the full scoop of their current positions in the world.
Personality wise, she's no nonsense and can seem rude off top, but once you get to know her she's actually just a smol bean who loves nature and music
