Expecting the Unexpected / Alice Abernathy & K-Mart

With her alert on all the time, Alice walked through a series of mess that had been strewn over the city. The whole street was quiet, not a sign of life was present. Not even the undead.Alice thought.

To her right, she was able to make out a swift movement. Alert as she was, Alice quickly unsheathed two large machetes from her back before assuming a defensive stance. She walked over to the suspicious movement's direction and anticipated for the worst. Well, who wouldn't be in this hell hole, anyway ?

Alice crept through a blown portion of concrete wall that gave access to the building's interior. Alice examined the whole area and concluded that something felt off. It was as if something wasn't right. Well, everything was but not this one. This was different.

The whole area looked like it had been a hotel of some sort, judging from it's wide lounge area and it's lavish set of furniture. The set-up looked like it had popped out from an old scary vintage movie as velvet sofas were now strewn and battered across the whole lounge area. Vases were broken, and pieces of shattered mirrors lay bare on the dusty carpet. So much for the classy, Alice again thought.

Another movement caught her eye and this time, Alice did not hesitate to throw the machete onto it's direction. Much to her surprise, it had missed and landed on the wall's peeling wallpaper, but that wasn't all, she'd missed hitting a civilian and a familiar-looking one at that.

Labored breathes filled the air as Alice suspiciously examined the faint silhouette of the stranger. The dimness of the room had slightly concealed the stranger's face, thus making Alice both suspicious and curious. She looked around and found that it had been the window's curtain doing in making the room look really dim. With careful strides, Alice walked sideways over to the window and drew it's curtain to the side, letting the sunlight through.

Alice flinched.

Of all people, she wouldn't have expected to meet this one particular person. Never really actually did.

"K-Mart ?"
