Review: Taalash

'Taalash' is a rare specimen in Bollywood. A dog lets out a chilling howl in the middle of the night. And, the city awakes to the story of the murder of a celebrity. Talaash starts impeccably for a psychological thriller. Aamir Khan (Shekhawat) is the cop who is assigned to the case. He is married to Rani (Roshni). Their relationship is in troubled waters as they struggle to come to terms with the drowning of their son. Meanwhile, Shekhawat and his sidekick hunt for clues and the trail leads them to Kareena (Rosie), a prostitute.

From the slums to the glitz of Mumbai, the investigation and the movie whir past thanks to some strong performances from the lead actors. The dark, foreboding narrative also keeps you interested till the very end. Though the supernatural touch was made evident when Roshni 'talks' to her son, the final twist unveils in spectacular fashion. It may not reach the high octane levels of 'Whores do not get second chances' in Identity. But, Taalash still packs enough punch to make the crowd draw a collective gasp. The tagline 'The secret lies within' does appear overrated. But, Taalash stands out with it's riveting storyline.
