Aang and Toph have been friends since middle school, but he's recently realized he wants more. But is it too late to tell her when he's leaving for the Peace Corps at the end of the summer?
Lots of new things for me in this one! Taang-centric, a true songfic, open ended? Look at me trying new stuff.

I know this is probably annoying. Great start right. But I just want to say, I read one of your very old stories (the untold avatar one) like once a year. Idk why, I only ever shipped that a little, yet the way you wrote the characters was so dramatic, fun and full of banter that it's one of the stories I haven't gotten out of my head since 2019 when I first read it. I'm not expecting a continuation btw, I'm an author myself and I know how you can lose the passion for a story people deeply love or just don't have the means to write it anymore emotionally speaking. But I just want you to know that whenever I think of that fandom, I specifically think of your fic. And I want to you to know the impact your stories have on people. You're a great author. And I'm sure in the years that passed you have become even better at your craft. You have a real talent at storytelling and especially at building character arcs. And you probably don't hear that enough.
Shit Anon, you got me actually crying here.
I really needed to hear this today.
This isn't annoying in any capacity at all, but instead very refreshing to hear. I gotta preface this with saying that Legends of Avatar: the Untold Story, is a very dear fic to me that I do plan to return to eventually. Not anytime soon, but ATLA's fanbase is timeless and I believe I can return to it whenever. But Taang has always been a special ship to me and so has Legend of Korra's lore and world building, and bridging the two quasi fandoms as a semi canon compliance/divergence fic mixed with a pre-canon timeline was a great challenge.
But in all honesty? That fic was a blast to write. As you say, the characters gave me so much to work with in the lens I wanted and I was warmed to see it was well received. Knowing I was working with an angle perceived as borderline crazy in shaking up canon, but still adhering to a strange set of consistencies was entertaining as I saw people slowly find intrigue. It worked.
Here's a crazy fun fact for all you new followers/readers of mine: all the shit I'm writing right now? Would not be possible if it weren't for Legends of Avatar: the Untold Story. It's why the stories I make today are thought out, thorough, but most of all, as true to character as I can work with. Putting my all into that story taught me that there is a payoff to dedication and practice. I was still an amateur then, but even I look back at that story and occasionally find myself gobsmacked with my prose.
"Wow, I wrote that? Me? Amazing!"
I don't think I'd edit anything aside from grammar mistakes when I do return, but I'm still proud of it. I still have notes and the whole plot laid out, so it's not like I don't know where it'll go. I still have the next chapter WIP set up and already begun. I've reworked it many times, but it's there!
And you, Anon?
You're the reason why I write these stories. I used to grow up reading fanfics, and to this day, I still stay up reading them. But I always had that feeling you describe, the one where when I think of a fandom there's just one fic, fanart, cosplayer, who just comes to mind. I never thought: "Wow, I wanna be that person!" But I always thought,
"I wanna make others feel things with stories the way they made me feel."
Occasional praise like yours is all I need sometimes, because it's a good reminder that though I have progressed as a writer, I still did touch people with my stories even then. Thanks, Anon. And I'm glad I managed to impact you and others, in ways like this.
“Wow, Toph,” Aang managed to rasp out. “You look…amazing.”
He watched a blush rise in her cheeks. Surely she could tell how much he believed it, with the way his heart was thundering against his ribs. Toph was gorgeous.
“Thanks, Twinkle Toes,” she said roughly as she stepped out of the house and shut the door. “I just thought I should get cleaned up. You know, since this is our first date.”
Happy FFWF!! In hindsight, what is a major change you would make to one of your fics? Why is that? Feel free to link the fic in your answer!
Fan fic writer Friday!!! I don’t think I’ve ever answered one of these I’m low key excited like a dork.
Um but all my fics are perfect and need no fixing so. I’M JUST KIDDING. they’re pretty much self-indulgent garbage and occasionally other people like them.
The first fic that popped into my head is the first one I ever wrote for Taang. It’s called Love is Blind.
It was just pretty jumbled up and I didn’t spend much time editing or thinking before spitting it out there into the void. Part of me wants to go back and completely rewrite it because the plot and timeline could be vastly improved. Not to mention that now that I’ve explored writing the characters more, I feel like I could write them with better depth and insight in this particular fic. I’d probably like to add in more pining scenes too bc I’m a slut for some mutual pining angst. I mean just rereading this fic now I can tell my writing has improved in just this past year. So that’s exciting! (But also wow maybe I should rewrite that fic.)
Toph is standing on the balcony, her amrs resting on the railing and 'stares' out to the mountains that surround the Air Temple. She's cluttching a bottle of Fire Nation whiskey in her hand, something Zuko had brought for her to help her get through this weekend.
She can feel everyone in the Great Hall dancing and standing around talking. Everyone is having a grand time, no one knows the hell that she is going through at the moment.
A pair of feet break from the crowd and walk towards her. His steps are sure, never hesitating, and solid on the ground.
"Hey kiddo, how are you doing?" Zuko asks.
"You know, I'm 20, you don't have to call me that anymore."
"Are you going to stop calling me Sparky?" He replies, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Fair point," she says, taking a swing of the alcohol.
He walks over and leans against the balcony with her. She can feel the warmth radiating off of him.
"I heard she looks beautiful. His heartbeak spiked when she began walking down the aisle," Toph says, her voice low and in monotone.
"Who? Katara?"
"Don't play stupid with me, Zuko. I can't handle tonight." Toph says, swallowing past the lump forming in her throat.
Callhim by his real name makes Zuko look at her, understanding and pity in his eyes.
He couldn't begin to imagine what she is going through, watching the man she loves marry someone else, her best friend nonetheless. He's surprised that Toph has managed to keep her composure throughtout the night. He knows that she had been a wreck the rest of the time.
She had been staying with him at the Fire Nation palace when the invitation to his wedding came. She didn't say anything for a while, but eventually got up and left. In the distance, he could her chunking rocks every which way, her scream faintly coming down the hall.
He had waited until the ground has stopped shaking before he went after her. It didn't take long for Zuko to find her on her knees curled into hers, her arms around her middle, sobbing.
He had never seen Toph cry before and it had honestly scared the shit out of him. He had no idea what to don, but he walked over and sat next to her while she cried.
Tonight though, she had not shed a single tear or said any sarcastic remarks to anyone, and is almost the perfect proper lady her parents had raised her to be... minus the smell of alcohol on her breath.
"Yeah," his voice soft, "Yeah, Katara looks beautiful. But, so do you Kiddo," Zuko says honestly. Through the vibrations, she knows he is telling the truth.
"Please spare me the bullshit. Even if I looked like turtleduck shit, it wouldn't matter," she said pulling another swig from the bottle, its contents almost completely gone.
Neither of them say anything, just stand next to each other quietly, staring out into the night.
An hour must have gone by when she feels his footsteps coming towards them.
Toph has completely finished off the bottle of whiskey which she hands to Zuko.
"Here, I shouldn't be seen with this."
"Huh-"
"Hey guys, what are you doing out here?" Aang asks, his voice bright and cheerful.
Zuko quickly pockets the empty bottle and turns towards Aang's voice, but Toph doesn't move.
"Oh, uh. We were just talking. Congratulations, man."
Toph can hear them grip each other's forearms and Zuko pats him on the shoulder before his footsteps move back to the party, disappearing into the crowd.
Aang comes to stand beside her, resting against the railing where Zuko had just been. She feels his shoulder brush against hers and she immediately tenses up, not wanting to feel his touch.
“Can you believe it? I’m finally married. I never thought the day would come,” he says, his hands gripping the rail.
Toph doesn’t say anything, just listens to him talk.
“I mean, I’ve been in love with her since I was 12! Can you believe that?”
She turns her head to the side as a tear escapes and slides down her cheek. She quickly wipes it away before he can see, and out of habit, she sniffs. One of those sniffs that make it oh-so obvious that someone is crying, all thick and full of boogers and mucus.
Aang immediately turns his head towards her and narrows his eyes slightly.
“Yeah, listen, I gotta go. Congrats, Aang,” She says quickly. She turns to walk back into the Grand Hall before anything else can be said.
“Toph, wait!” His hand reaches out for her and he barely touches her fingers before she is out of his reach.
Toph hurriedly walks to the other end of the Hall and slips out the door into the night air, hoping no one has noticed her haste escape.
“Toph, wait!” Aang shouts from the top of the stair case. Her ears pick up the whoosh of air and then his feather like footsteps landing a few steps in front of her, stopping her in her tracks.
“T., you’re crying. Why are you crying?”
“It’s nothing, Aang. Just let me go,” she mumbles trying to move past him.
“No. You called me Aang. You never do that unless something is serious.”
Toph inwardly flinches. She didn’t realize she did that. She stops struggling to get past him, knowing now it’s too late for excuses or to get out of this.
Toph looks up at him, moving the hair out of her face so he can see her clearly.
They stand there together, neither of them moving. Aang, a concerned wrinkle in his brow and hands still on her shoulders. And Toph, her face blank of emotion, tears running down her face, and most likely ruining the makeup Suki had worked so hard on.
“Just talk to me,” Aang whispers.
Her resolve completely crumbles at that sentence. She grabs him by the front of his formal Airbender robes and pulls him to her, locking their lips together.
Aang immediately responds to her, his mouth slotting perfectly against her. His mouth works hers open and slips his tongue against hers. His hands come up and cup her tear streaked cheeks.
At the same time, they pull back from each other, Aang staring into Toph’s eyes trying to read some kind of emotion there.
“I just had to do that. Just once. I’m so sorry,” she whispers before breaking from his grip and running away once again.
Aang turns and follows her movements with his eyes as she disappears into the night.
Theres just a snipit of my story 'If I Lose Him Like This'. Please go read the full thing on Ao3 and let me know what you think!!!

Zuko was the enemy. That much had been obvious to Katara from the moment he had attacked her village. But when she finds herself trapped with him after the Siege of the Northern Water Tribe, she finds herself questioning who he really is, and if he really is the enemy she thought he was, while he comes to question his own enmity with her. Post season 1. Zutara. Not exactly a capture fic.
I saw a 2020 summary of works written and I decided to do one myself :)
2020 was rough, and I kind of had taken a step back from publishing even though I still was writing. (I only published ONE story in all of 2019! My bad!) I decided to start again about midway through 2020. And this year I had a new fandom to write about: Avatar the Last Airbender. I’ve always been in love with the show ATLA since it aired, and for some reason never delved into the fanfiction until recently. Maybe one day I’ll write for LOK as well. Voltron: Legendary Defenders of the Universe, and Miraculous Ladybug were old obsessions (or should I say ongoing obsessions) but I did post a couple there too. Anyways, here’s my list of posted works for 2020:
Zutara Week 2020- As the title suggests, this is seven picked prompts for the ship Zuko x Katara in ATLA. A non-canon ship that many people adore. Posted 7/24/20
Love Is Blind- This fluffy piece is also for ATLA but focuses more on the non-canon ship Toph x Aang. Posted 8/17/20
Colorful- A fluffy excerpt from the story above featuring Taang. Posted 9/24/20
Cause and Effect- A drama Voltron fic featuring the non-canon ship Lance x Keith. I’m still heartbroken they weren’t together in the end. Posted 9/24/20
The Cat’s Out of the Bag- A comedic take on Adrien accidentally revealing his superhero identity to the Dupain-Cheng family. Typical reveal fic for MLB. Posted 9/24/20 (as you can see I cleaned up some fics and cleared them out on this day 😂)
Almost Lovers- An ongoing angsty fic showcasing the breakup of Aang and Katara as Zuko unknowingly comes between them. Posted 9/28/20
Accidental Rendezvous- (M) a total smut fest featuring Zutara and drunk accidents. Posted 9/28/20
Fantasy Land- An almost crack-like fic of Aang traveling to his future and finding out his wife is Toph. Posted 10/21/20
Requited Love- An absolutely adorable drama fic of Toph and Aang pining for each other. Bonus of parental teasing. Posted 11/9/20
Taang Week 2020- Again, as the title suggests, this is a collection of given prompts featuring Taang. Overall very fluffy. Posted 11/11/20
The Universe is Unkind- A terribly sad fic featuring the non-canon (as far as we know) ship Toph x Sokka. Yes I am a multishiper. TW character deaths. This was one of the saddest things I’ve ever written. Posted 11/21/20
Prospects- A delightful collection of prompts featuring Zutara. (Some M) Includes the 2020 December Drabbles Challenge prompts. May possibly be posting more in the future. Posted 12/4/20
On The Precipice- An ongoing Taang story of the fluffiest fluff you have ever read. Gag worthy sweetness and pining. Posted 12/13/20
And that was my posting spree of the last half of 2020! As you can see, I am cursed to ship non-canon couples apparently. I will say MOST of this had already been in the works for months, but I sure did a heck of a lot of writing and publishing in the last few months. It feels good to create. I hope you all enjoyed my works!
