Air is the element of freedom. The Air nomads detached themselves from worldly concerns and found peace and freedom.

Earth is the element of substance. The people of the Earth Kingdom are diverse and strong. They are persistent and enduring.
Aang : Why stay here where you’re not happy? Toph : Where else am I supposed to go? Aang : You could come with us.

I think that this scene has more importance and depth than the credit it is given for. Aang is definitely the first person to know Toph’s ability. He’s the first person that she tells about her parents to. He was the first person she ever opened up to. Which is totally opposite to Toph’s character. He’s the first person that she ever trusted. He’s the first person to know her story. He was the first person to see her vulnerable. She just met him that day. Yet she told him her secrets and about her life which I’m sure she never told anyone before. This goes to show how much of a strong bond they had. Toph trusted him the day she met him. Aang knew that he had to help free Toph because she wasn’t happy.
He was her first friend.

Their friendship is strong. Strong enough that if they had to, they would choose themselves to die so the other could live.
One of the best things I love about them is Toph giving Aang a hard time. Just randomly punching him probably breaking some of his bones. Sky-rocketing him in the air. Pounding him into the ground for no reason. She really pushes him to his limits. He stands his ground because of her. But only against other people. He cannot stand his ground against her XD
A boy who is goofy and runs away from his problems. A girl who is a tomboy and faces her problems head on… I SHIP IT!!! THEY CAN POUND ME INTO THE GROUND AND I’D BE THANKFUL.
Toph started giving Aang nicknames the moment she meet him. From “the fancy dancer” to “ dancy pants” to “baldy”.
And everyone’s personal favourite “Twinkle toes”.
And Aang just always seemed to go along with it. Like she was the only one giving him a consistent nickname.
I like how the creators made something that was only Toph and Aang’s. No one else’s. They just made them friendship goals. And the fact that she still called him by his nickname is just so pure.
From arguing to making each other understand one another but still butting heads like best friends do. To having a subtle promise that their friendship will last a lifetime.
Lifetime friendships is a Taang thing. *sobs*
