Loopy Godinez takes SD over Tabatha Ricci
Seems like the theme for tonight is fighters fighting off the back foot and getting themselves in trouble.
Also some confusion from Buffer with the commission over the score?
I don't agree with 30-27 for Ricci but I did think some people were bugging about this not being a competitive fight on the cards. Ricci had a lot of empty volume and noncommittal shots but commentary was definitely underselling how much damage she was doing when she landed clean. And she landed clean a lot. Godinez had the forward and "looked" more comfortable in the pocket. She also hit harder and I think that won her over but this was a competitive fight imo. I do not like Godinez not wrestling at all. It's her best skill. By far. And for all this about keeping her in the pocket behind her high guard looking to time 1-2s up the middle or the odd hook on the break, she should be looking to tie up too. She is way too hittable in close and honestly I don't think she keeps a high enough work rate to be a consistent threat there. There's a reason Ricci dropped her. Godinez's defense consist of high guard and retreat in straight lines. What did Ricci in is her reluctance to try and push Godinez back with kicks.
