(With Kids on Bikes in mind)
A punk band that performs in cemeteries, purely for the vibes! Definitely not because the main singer is actually a necromancer about to raise an army of undead with the bands music.

Urban Fantasy RPG Idea:
The classes are all based off of various Japanese Street Fashion subcultures.
For example: Lolita acts akin to a mage, with Gothic casting damage spells and summons, and Sweet acting as healers, Bosozoku is akin to a fast hitting rogue, Gyaru is based around charming opponents, etc.
Clothing and accessories act as weapons and stat boosts to your chosen subculture, etc.
had a dream last night but i remember very little of it except that i was part of a group of like four girls and we all had different skills and we were supposed to prove how good we were at navigating this decaying building complex and there were a whole bunch of like. collapsing floors and stuff
there were also these weeping angel-like beings, who could be driven off with these handheld beepers/humming machines
one girl was learning to drive, one girl had a little brother she was trying (and failing) to protect, and i dont remember the other two
part of it was also that we had to navigate these abandoned, decaying buildings in secret as part of the test
It’s hard thinking of Cryptids
I feel like all the cryptids I make are boring and unoriginal. Well, heres my last one. People are disappearing from their homes from different towns. No one has a clue as to how these people are disappearing but they know it happens at night and there is a very small village in between all these different towns. The people in this village are very normal and they unaware of these disappearances. People who investigate the people in this village can’t find anything off about these people and they seem to be honest that they DON’T KNOW what is going on. However, at night, they notice 2 tiny red glowing orbs leave the houses and spreading out of the village towards the surrounding towns. Upon closer inspection of the houses at night after the orbs leave, the people are asleep in their beds and seem... normal. Do you guys think this is interesting enough? Do you guys want to know more or is this meh?
also a long-term beef i've had with DND is that perception is treated as a skill/derived from wisdom. Like, my capacity for making good decisions does not impact how well my eyes work. Also also, DEX covers WAY too much. its like, bodily coordination, hand-eye coordination, AND stealthiness. There needs to be a separation from someone who writes real good and someone that does back-flips or someone that burgles for a living. (and why is Knowledge called intelligence! thats a synonym for wisdom!)
hmm... reality is kind of a combo of things re: perception
like my eyes are pretty damn good with my glasses. like i have better than 20/20 vision with them. but im still effectively blind as a fucking bat because i miss shit due to how i process my surroundings, even though this can be mitigated somewhat by training myself to look for things.
so its one part skill, one part inborn traits
the problem is...im not really interested in making a system that accurately reflects life. so i’ll prolly have that whole perception thing be a combo of skill and stat or something similar to that.
and yeah dex...dex covers shit that really should be more skill than stat sometimes. but i haven’t gotten far enough to handle fixing that so all my ideas are still up in the air
ooo re: HP/CON equivalence, [HP : CON : : exhaustion : agility/dex] and [HP : CON : : stress/magic use : wisdom]. Like, doing strenuous actions impacts your ability to do other actions, or react well to bad situations. That's just how having a body works! having it reflected in the character math WITHOUT having to fill out tax forms would be SO good. Also, it leads to some narrative stuff! like, maybe my bard recovers stress by cooking! it still takes "rest" time, but it gives flavor to the game
oh! good point
hmm well i was planning on adding exhaustion mechanic in there somewhere…OH! maybe have it be a thing where as you gain exhaustion levels/points it counts as a penalty on rolls that use your stats/skills whatever
example: char has 2 exhaustion points and 5 strength. they go to block an attack and the math is: 1d10 (random chance) +5 (str) -2 (exhaustion) vs whatever the attacker’s math looks like
that way instead of multiple calculations for each stat or skill its just a blanket debuff for all intents and purposes
[edit] OH and the side bonus to that is it reflects how more experienced adventurers are better able to work around exhaustion since this way it’ll fuck you up faster at lower “levels” than at higher ones
possible solutions for the whole “reflex stats and number of actions” problem:
actions/abilities have point costs and you have an energy stat that is basically an action point pool to spend from. reflex stats give you a discount on all action costs. again works best with small numbers.
actions/abilities have point costs and your place in the initiative is the number of points you have to spend. reflex stats improve your place in the initiative so you have more “points” to spend on actions and thus more actions available to you. either initiative needs to be high or action costs need to be fairly low and go up as they grow in power (ie a MurderDeathBall type spell will take more time to use than Baby’s First Fire Cantrip)
some combo of the above. like keeping the initiative order bonus idea but also adding the action cost discount. like speeding things up from both ends. problem is this could get out of control super quick...but then that depends on the setting. maybe people want to reenact scenes from DBZ
Persona RPG
Plot idea would be a mash up between persona 3 and persona 4. College students/professors (I guess) waking up in a hidden hour where monsters attack those who are not turned to stone. Some mysterious person is using this for their own benefit, forcing stone people awake to monsters will kill them or their minds, taking out people with no yet discernable pattern.
The players wake of their own accord, and awaken supernatural powers within themselves in the form of Personas, forms of the true self who aid them in battling Shadows and solving the problems of the mental shutdowns and who is waking them, and how.
I need to compile Personas from the games, weakness/strength charts, and start building the town. Probably american, possibly based on Long island? Somewhere isolated, where what's happening is more localized.
Should it be more p5 where it's increasingly high social level of bosses destroying the world or a single person/group influenced by the evil of that hidden hour?
