mystery concept, a creature that gets more powerful the more people worship it. it looks divine/ angelic and has manifested in a church and is given the worship [and food] from several misguided churchgoers

I know you said creature but i kinda want to make both a phenomena and monster outa this?

Concept: a strange crystaline idol had crash-landed near a rural town. The townsfolk, strangly compelled, brought the idol back to their church. Crops started becoming bountiful, and illnesses and injuries are miraculously cured. The townsfolk now worship the thing. Little do they know they are being slowly mind controlled until the creature hatches from its crystaline cocoon.

Phenomena: The Crystal Idol

Type: Conspiracy (motivation: to gather power, keep secrets, and create confusion)

Description: a statue made out of strange crystals. It’s shaped like a centaur-like creature raising something up like a victory yell. It’s a little cracked due to its crash landing, otherwise looks intact.

Effect: anyone that stays near the idol for a couple of hours will be exposed to its brainwashing, where the person will give it praise and believe anything good happening is its doing. The more people praise it, the more area its effect covers.

Should the hunters get too close to the idol without permission from the priest, the townsfolk will become agitated and aggresive.

Weakness: burying the idol deep underground or dropping it into the lake nearby.

Custom move:

Influence: should a hunter be exposed to the crystal idol, they must roll Act Under Pressure. On a 10+, they resist the effect. On a 7-9, they can choose to resist it or be influenced. If they chose to be influenced and follow the Idol’s commands, they mark experience. On a miss, they must follow the idol’s commands or they will take 2 harm mental ignore armor

Monster: The Crystalin Monster

Type: Trickster (motivation: to create chaos)

Description: a beast with skin that looks like its made out of crystals. It has long, reindeer-like horns, 8 dots on its face that seem like eyes, and a centaur-like lower half. Instead of equine legs, however, its more like dragon legs. It has four upper arms as well. It has a strange glowing orb floating in between its horns.

This creature will come into fruition should the hunters not get rid of the idol in time.

Powers:

Influence: see phenomena custom moves

Life steal: its followers inavertenly give their life force to the crystaline beast through their praises.

Supernatural speed: the crystaline beast can move super fast on ground

Psychic abilities: the crystaline beast can read peoples minds, talk through their minds, create illusions, and levitate objects

Weakness: supersonic sounds will shatter it.

Attacks:

Mind shock (1 harm mental ignore armor)

Levitating throw (2 harm throw)

Charge (2 harm close)

Harm: 17

Description: The townfolk of a small rural town who are brainwashed by the crystal idol.

Concept: a body has been found behind a well used art studio, covered in a strange substance and thinned out. The cause? Sentient paint blobs are hiding in the studio, killing and draining the artist’s life force.

Monster: Paint Blots

Type: Parasite (motivation: to infest, control and devour)

Description: a bunch of sentient paint blobs the size if a gallon of paint. They can change their shape to have stubby arms and legs. They can all form together be grow in size, eventually to be a 10ft monster. Each paint blot is a different color and shade, from red to purple to brown to black.

The paint blots were created when an artist in the studio did a joke ritual in an attempt to gain inspiration. Now these creatures feed off of life energy to fuel their own twisted form of inspiration.

Power:

Posession

Living painting

Can go through any hole or pipe

Attacks:

Suffocation (4 harm intimate life drain)

[Together form] Slam (3 harm hand life drain)

Custom moves:

Suffocation: the paint blots will attempt to jump onto the hunter’s heads, trying to drain their life away. When a blot does this, have them roll Act Under Pressure. On a 10+ the hunter throws the blot off. On a 7-9, the blot is stuck on their arm instead and they take 2 harm intimate life drain. On a miss, their head gets covered and they take the full 4 harm.

Life drain: whenever the blot deals harm, it gains half the harm it deals to heal itself.

Living Painting: a paint blot can sacrifice its self to turn into a living painting.

Type: Scout (motivation: to stalk, watch, and report)

Description: a living piece of art created from a used paint blot. It watches anyone nearby and lets the blots know the location of living beings through its hivemind. It can pop out of the surface it’s occupying at any time, but it won’t get far.

Attacks: Paint slap (1 harm hand)

Weakness: Turpintine

mystery idea: a novice necromancer just wanted to bring back their beloved pet, accidentally revived Much More

Concept: A necromancer had accidentally resurrected a undead drake while they were attempting to bring back their monitor lizzard. The drake is now accidentally raising its own army from its feedings.

Hook: one or more can be picked:

Several half-eaten animals are found around an old cemetary.

There have been reports of a large shape moving around the cemetary

Someone lost their arm near the cemetary, their wound instanly infected and looking decayed

Monster: Ghoulish Drake

Type: Breeder (motivation: to give birth to, bring forth, or create evil)

Description: a decaying, almost skeletal, drake with cold bright blue lights for eyes.

Powers:

Zombification: the drake can turn anything it bites into a zombie

Digging: the drake can dig underground quickly

Great strength: despite its rotting body, the undead drake can still throw large boulders and objects with some ease.

Fear inducement: the undead drake can induce fear into creatures with its gaze.

Attacks:

Bite (3 harm intimate ignore armor infection)

Weakness: Sunlight

Harm: 14 harm

Custom moves:

Zombification: if a hunter is bitten by the drake, they must roll Act Under Pressure.

On a 10+, they are alright.

On a 7-9, one of their limbs starts to rot. They are marked unstable until they are cured.

On a miss, they slowly become a zombie. The keeper will the hunter which part is rotting off, and they will take 1 harm until they die or get cured. They gain -1 ongoing until they are cured as well.

Fear inducment: should the drake lock eyes with another hunter, they must roll Act Under Pressure

On a 10+, they arent afraid

On a 7-9, they feel frightened. They have -1 forward on their next roll

On a miss, they are stunned in fear. They cannot act and must roll act under pressure again in the next round. Getting hurt will snap them out of it.

Mystery Concept: Catacombs Creeps

Concept: A group of teens was recently found dead in a basement, killed by various means: stabbing, disembowelment, the skull being crushed, and being burned alive. The only thing noteworthy in the basement, aside from the bodies, was a tabletop RPG called Catacomb Creeps. However, upon returning to the crime scene, the game was stolen.

Threats

Phenomenon: Catacomb Creeps

Type: Zone (motivation: to harm those that play it)

Description: A tabletop RPG that seems to be a simpler version of Dungeons and Dragons, in that its more of a dungeon crawler with some roleplaying elements. The game only uses a 2d6 and has up to six classes players can choose from: fighter, mage, thief, bard, alchemist, and cleric. The game requires you to describe your actions before you roll.

Powers:

Whoever plays the game will have their souls sucked into the miniatures, where they'll experience the game at its fullest, feeling immersed in the world. However, that also means they'll feel every hit delt onto them, from fire to cuts. Once the damage taken exceeds 7, their character will die and they themselves will die alongside them.

Weakness:

- Beating the session will make the game vulnerable so it can be burned.

- The hunters can also banish the book using big magic. The requirements are:

Use magic "banishment"

Take 10 minutes to cast the spell

Use a stolen miniature (filled with a soul or not) from the game as a sacrifice

Custom moves:

When the hunters play the game their moves cannot be used in the game. Instead, they must give details on what action they want to do, and the Keeper will tell them what to roll. An example would be:

A player playing a cleric want to heal- they will roll Use Magic with the focus on healing 1 harm

Another example: an alchemyst wants to craft a potion bomb. The keeper will say they can either roll for weird or sharp.

Dungeon generate: The keeper gets to generate the type of room the players will reach by rolling a 2d6. The rooms are:

1-3: monster room

4-6: trap room

7-9: stronger monster room

10-11: safe room

12: treasure room

After a certain amount of room movements, the players will face off against the boss monster. Killing the boss monster will effectivly beat the game.

Player gear: while in the game, hunters will not be able to use their current gear. Instead, they will be given gear that matches their class

Fighter- steel armor (1 armor), broad sword (2 harm close slash)

Mage- magic tomb (spells are: fireball [2 harm area burn], lightning bolt [2 harm far stun], magc missle [1 harm close])

Thief- lockpick tools (0 harm open), disarm gear (0 harm disarm trap), short knife (1 harm close)

Bard- rapier (1 harm close), instrument (playing- 0 harm distraction; fighting- 1 harm close blunt)

Alchemist- potion bomb (2 harm area burn), small knife (1 harm close), healing potions (-1 harm ingest), poison bottle (8 harm ingested)

Cleric- healing tomb (grants 1 harm healed), holy knife (1 harm close holy)

Monster: Mortimer

Type: Torturer (Motivation- to hurt and terrify)

Description: a tall, hunched over man who'se tied to the game Catacomb Creeps. He acts as the dungeon master for the game. He tries to find unsuspecting folk, normally teens and young adults, and have them try out his game. Those that die to the game he absorbs their soul, making him look younger with each soul taken.

Powers:

Dungeon mastery- Mortimer can control every aspect of the game Catacomb Creeps to his advantage, usually cheating to make sure the players die a horrible death. He never kills the player right away- he makes sure they play and take any hits as he savors the suffering the player gives.

Weakness: he gets weak when players beat the game, as he never intended anyone would win. Should anything happen to the game, he will suffer the harm for it. That also means banishing the game will banish him too.

Harm: 10

Monster of the Week Mystery Concept: Christmas Spirits

Concept: As the countdown to Christmas comes to an end, strange sightings of ghostly figures are seen roaming the town. Their appearances have been correlated to the death of a couple of people, who had died while they were asleep with a big cut on their chest. The cause? The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is fed up with people not mending their ways, tired of future tragedies those individuals will cause down the line and decided to take matters into their own hands.

Monster: The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come

Type: Executioner (motivation: to punish the guilty)

Description: A spirit dressed in a long, black cloak with no sign of having any legs. The hood of the cloak is masked with darkness, and the only other thing visible is grey, boney hands. They hardly ever speak, but when they do their voice sounds deep and raspy.

Powers: 

Future sight

Intangibility

Attacks: 

Ethereal Scyth (2 harm close chilling)

Weakness: 

Helping The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come’s eventual victims in changing their ways before the ghost comes (with the help of the Ghost of Christmas Past and the Ghost of Christmas Present) 

Outright banishing them with a Big Magic spell. Requirements:

Ingredients: Mistletoe, ornaments, Christmas sweaters, elf on the shelf, fruitcake, Christmas carol music sheets, the actual Christmas Carol books

Must be cast in the night before Christmas

Use Magic banishment spell

Need to have people singing Christmas carols in a big circle to keep the spell going until they are banished.

Harm: 17

Type: Witness (motivation: to reveal information)

Description: A spirit that seems to be a young child dressed in white clothing. They seem to glow brightly despite being intangible. 

They will tell of how their friend The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come seems to be missing, but only knows where they last saw them. They will also reveal who they will be seeing next in terms of their changing-peoples-entire-outlook job.

They may also mention the hunter’s past, should they bring the spirit with them or constantly run into them.

Bystander: The Ghost of Christmas Present

Type: Witness (motivation: to reveal information)

Description: A spirit that seems to be almost a giant. They’re jolly, kind, and strangely fills everyone around them with a comforting warmth that digs into their very soul.

They will have a bad memory, remembering only the current day's events and nothing more. They are constantly reminded by The Ghost of Christmas Past about who they are and their duty. They won’t know the location of  The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come until the very end of the day, when they are old and ready to pass on into the next day.

Monster of the Week mystery concept: Those that hide

Concept: At a campsite in a mountain forest, a camper was recently found dead in a dense part of the forest, their stomach cut open and their intestines eaten. The cause? A hidebehind has discovered the campsite and is picking off the campers one by one.

Monster: Hidebehind

Type: Devourer (motive: to eat humans [specifically their intestines])

Description: an incredibly tall, slender figure that seems to be made out of pitch darkness with two white dots for eyes. It’s nearly impossible to spot it, as as soon as you see it, it’ll immediately hide. However, you will always have the feeling of being watched.

Powers:

Hide-behind- A hidebehind can change its shape to be able to hide behind any kind of object, to the point where it can suck in its stomach to match a thin tree. 

Great sense of smell- How the Hidebehind finds its victims is smelling them through the forest. The tiniest whiff lets the Hidebehind know their exact location and wherever they go.

Attacks:

Claws (small/thin form: 1 harm close; large/bulky form: 2 harm close)

Bite (small/thin form: 2 harm intimate ignore armor; large/bulky form: 4 harm intimate ignore armor)

Weakness: Alcohol. The smell of alcohol makes for a good Hidebehind repellent. The actual drink, upon contact with the Hidebehind’s skin, will cause its skin to bubble and rupture. Make sure the hunters keep the bottle top covered or the can unopened before fighting the Hidebehind.

Harm: 20 harm

Mystery concept, the monster is the manifested nightmare of a comatose or long sleeping child/teenager

Let’s see what I can do!

Concept: There have been several attacks reported around a hospital. Said reports seem to happen infrequently, from the middle of the night to during the day. The cause? Some creature manifested itself from a comatose teenage patient and seems to be attacking anyone that seems like it would be a threat.

Optional idea: The nightmare manifestation is a representation of the teen fighting back against their horrible house life, with the manifestation being protective of said teen and not wanting any more harm to come towards them. It attacking anyone near the hospital, whether its strangers or friends, is more of a self-defense measure than pure intention. Only doctors, nurses, and certain friends to the teen are unscathed.

Type: Torturer (motivation: to hurt and terrify)

Description: A beast that is nearly indescribable. It’s form keeps distorting and changing, never sticking to one shape, and almost seems ethereal in a sense. It has an unearthly grunt and growl that seem to echo inside a person’s head.

Powers:

Shape change

Supernatural Strength

Immortality

Blink-teleport

Attacks:

Charge (1 harm intimate knock down)

Mind flood (2 harm head ignore armor dizzy headache-inducing)

Weakness: Waking the teen from his coma. Those with magic can heal the teen using “use magic-healing”

Optional weakness should one take the optional idea: The hunters showing that they mean no harm to the teen will cause it to no longer harm them, but will still attack random bystanders and especially the teen’s parents. Only the hunters can coax it then that the bystanders also mean no harm, but it’s utterly impossible to do such a thing with the parents.

Harm: 18

Custom move:

Headache inducing- Should a magical or psychic hunter gain a headache from the Mind flood, they will have -1 ongoing to any move needing a weird roll until the headache is cured

Monster of the Week Mystery Concept: Train Bound to Nowhere

Concept: In (insert town here), there have been several incidents where people have been stabbed or cut and claiming they've never seen the assailent, especially near the train station. The cause? Some convicts escaped Charon's train and are torturing the towns folk. Charon is the train conductor bringing the dead over the river styx on a bridge that passes above it.

Hook: People have reported to being stabbed or slashed while walking around at night. Medical examiners determin that it was a knife, but the cuts seem to be irregular or misshapen.

Monster: The escaped spirits

Type: torturer (motivation: to hurt and terrorize)

Description: Three spirits weilding broken glass from a window they shattered on Charon's train. Those without the sight never see the spirits, just that they were stabbex or cut by a nonexistant force.

Powers:

Intangible and invisible- no one can see or feel them except for their glass shards. They use this to their advantage to go on a crime spree without getting caught.

Possession- The spirits can possess people if they want. A hunter can also get possessed as well. When they do, have them roll Act Under Pressure. On a 10+, they resist the possession and kick them out. On a 7-9, the ghost is inside them and will make them do terrible acts, but the hunter can resist. If the hunter follows through, they mark experience. On a miss, the ghost takes over them.
