When a thoughtful (and very twisted) friend gives you a special holiday outfit, you have to wear it at least once. Thanks Donald. :) #Christmas #christmaseve #tackychristmas #uglychristmassweater https://www.instagram.com/p/BryWJM8B3Po/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1n63bwwc4apx1

Retail Therapy: Tinsel Trees
It was mid-November, and I was feeling a bit melancholy. I know I shouldn’t have done what I did, but I didn’t care - I was going to attempt to add some holiday cheer to my home. Something that would act as a small reminder of the possibility of better days ahead. And no, Target is never cheap, but they have that small area up front dedicated to cheap goods - and it’s usually filled with small holiday goodies.
I took another look at the little tinsel trees.
Some were the traditional the traditional green, but others were blue or white. Like last year, the “needles” on the branches are made of tinsel, and the white one is especially pretty - it’s iridescent.
The white tree reminded me of the trees that were popular in the 80′s, with silver ornaments to match. Contemporary. Modern. And depending on the taste of the persons involved in decorating - minimalist.
Several times I’ve looked at that tiny iridescent flora, thinking of what I would do should it be displayed in my home. Would I follow the minimalist route, or would I deck it out? Hard to say, unless I get my hands on the little thing. Ultimately, do I have the expendable funds to give into my frivolous desires? Yes, but now it’s a matter clearing off some space to display the little sucker.
No ornaments for this little guy, as he’s just going to be covered with extra garland and lights. I want it to look ethereal; lit from within as if it was ripped from a painting.
Or a child’s Christmas cartoon.
No elegant, country Christmas here. Just tackiness, and the taste for the avant-garde.
A Jetson-esque space-age holiday.
After carefully stringing the lights - and strategically cutting garland - my vision for my tiny tree came to life. And here it’ll sit until after New Year’s, lighting up our living room with some holiday cheer
