Logan exhaled softly, turning in the mirror, his hand brushing against the back of his neck and shoulders. He... he didn’t hate the open back. The halter top exposed his shoulders, which he wasn’t a fan of, but he liked the backs of his shoulders being exposed, all the way up to his hairline with just a small strap tied.
The peach color of the dress added a certain flair, too. Logan knew his brand (navy, indigo, whichever deviation from “dark blue” he preferred, really) but dressing in lighter colors, in different colors... well. He was almost tempted to ask the other sides to swap for a video, just to see how it... turned out.
Logan slid his hands down the side of the dress and turned in the mirror, looking over his shoulder, and at that moment his door crashed open.
“Listen Logan, some of Doom and Gloom’s ideas work, but I think we should really leave the imagination to me, eh?” Roman said loudly. He held a large box and his back faced the rest of his room, but Logan was... Logan was frozen.
He couldn’t breathe. It was like the very air had crystallized in his lungs.
Roman turned around, his open cocky expression dropping, mouth gaping, eyes wide. The box slipped from his fingers and hit the floor with a thud.
Then it was like the very gates of hell had opened on Logan’s face, for all the heat he felt rushing to his cheeks and ears and neck.
“I – I can explain,” he tried to choke out, voice cracking before he finished the sentence.
“You’re...” Roman’s mouth opened and closed a few more times, as if he were trying to collect himself. “You’re gorgeous.”
Logan widened his eyes and looked away, knowing his cheeks, reddened with embarrassment, were swiftly growing darker. A hand found its way to his bicep and his shoulders curled in.
“No, no, I’m serious,” Roman said, stepping over the box and approaching him, awed expression never ceasing. “Have you tried on other dresses?”
“I... well... yes,” Logan said, expertly avoiding his gaze. “But you weren’t – you weren’t supposed to see this.”
“Well,” Roman said, frowning. “I don’t like that I found out by barging in but also, I’m glad I found out. You don’t need to be ashamed of this, Logan.”
Logan furrowed his eyebrows, gaze trained on the floor, the desk, anywhere but Roman’s eyes. “It’s not exactly... in character.”
“Says who?” Roman said. He took one step closer. “You can be whoever you want.”
“Not really. I’m Thomas’s Logic, I can’t shift,” Logan said, head ducking.
“Who says you can’t be Logic and also wear a dress?” Roman said. He reached forward, gently pushing Logan’s chin up to look him in the eye. “C’mon, Logic. I know you can figure it out.”
Logan pushed his hand away, and Roman let him, expression unperturbed. “I... I suppose.”
“You look fantastic,” Roman said. Logan took one glance at his hopeful, softly smiling expression and had to physically turn around because jesus christ, Logan’s heart wasn’t set up for this.
“I would like to change back now,” Logan said, short and curt, a tendril of discomfort curling in his chest. He didn’t want to go back to pants and a tshirt just yet, but Roman...
“You could change into another dress, if you’d like,” Roman said. “I can tell you’re not quite comfortable in that one just yet.”
Something loosened in his gut, his shoulders dropping. “I... maybe.”
“Alright,” Roman said. Logan watched out of the corner of his eye as Roman approached the door. Roman paused, then, and glanced at Logan, who unintentionally made eye contact. “Can I come back in afterwards?”
Logan blinked. Then he smiled, slowly but surely, and said, “If you wish.”
Roman’s entire expression lit up and Logan knew he’d made a mistake with that wording, because Roman’s following words burst from his lips like rockets and he said, “as you wish,” with an obnoxious bow at the end, peering from under his bangs at Logan, a smirk etched on his lips.
Logan rolled his eyes and everything seemed to slot back into place.
Roman gave him one last grin before shutting the door.
Roman hadn’t ridiculed him, or laughed, or made a single snide comment. He’d simply... supported him, complimented him...
Logan inhaled, a brighter light settling in his stomach, and smiled.
