@tacoshu It’s white sociopathy (a thing that can even affect PoC btw - latest example is the freaking Surgeon General). But we’re all aggressive/abusive b/c of the inability to empathize with PoC. Plain & simple, the twisting you see these two do is basically cognitive dissonance working to claim that this racist behaviour is based in reality. I did a far too long Twitter thread on this same thing too. lol

It’s on display here in context of fiction but it’s far too relevant to our daily lives & especially as COVID-19 is highlighting once again the inherent racial biases/practices in the healthcare/economics. PoC have been seeing it & speaking on it forever & especially on white sociopathy’s lack of empathy: nurse tiktoks/tweets mocking patients who are brown/black, cops treatment in general but also that so much of their training is shown to use pictures of actual Black people to label us all as “criminals”, the reactions to BLM & the idea that unarmed Black people should have done more/shouldn’t have been where they were/been perfect to avoid being murdered by cops & racists alike...It’s exhausting & while this is literally about fictional people, it still reflects how actual people are treated & you see the racism on display under it. It was the same when people who swore they read The Hunger Games were upset that Rue was Black in the movie & that they cared a lot less about her...despite the literal words describing Rue were “dark, satiny brown skin”. They mentally rearranged the image in their mind to make Rue look like Prim (Blonde, white, fragile feminity) in order to care about her life. I’ll calm after some food & stupid tv but it truly infuriates.
