Note: This is the revised and edited drabble that I posted when my blog was fairly new.
There was a small package by the door of your apartment. Excitement filled your body as you rushed over to it and picked it up. It was the new art supplies that you had spent most of your paycheck on about two weeks ago, and finally, it was here.
You hurriedly unlocked the door and kicked your shoes off before kicking your door closed. You didn't even care about planning a meal for dinner; all you wanted to do was open this box of God's gifts to the world. You set all the groceries you were carrying on the counter then sat down at your art table in front of the enormous window that overlooked Seoul. The grey clouds covered the sun, and rain fell gracefully. It was an art day for sure. Dinner would have to wait until later.
You opened the box; There were full tubes of paint and two packs of top quality paintbrushes. You looked at the color with light in your eyes. You couldn't wait to try them out. Reaching into one of the deep drawers in your desk, you pulled out a small book filled with blank pages perfect for the paint you had just received. You stared at the white paper then out of the window at the beautiful scenery in front of you.
There were so many ideas flowing through your mind. What to paint first? Just as you decided on a concept and picked up your pencil, the door to your apartment opened. You turned in your chair and saw your boyfriend shuffle in.
A tired smile was resting on his lips. He hung up his jacket, took off his shoes, and stumbled towards you. He squatted down to your level and placed a kiss upon your forehead.
"Hello." He said softly in his deep voice. You smiled and wrapped your arms around his neck and whispered a small greeting into his neck. You both stayed like that for a couple of minutes until he pulled away and stood up and rubbed his aching leg muscles.
"Can you come nap with me?" He asked innocently. You pouted and looked back at the art supplies that you so badly wanted to test out.
"But, I was going to paint for a while before I made dinner." You explained. It was his turn to pout.
"Baby, please?" He whined. You latched onto his torso and stuffed your face into his stomach.
"Tae, please just let me paint. All of these are new, and I'm dying to try them out." You mumbled into his stomach. Tae rubbed your back and remained quiet for a while. Which meant either you won or he was thinking. He hummed, which made you giggle as it vibrated his stomach.
He was thinking. "I have an offer for you." He finally said. You glanced up at him, resting your chin on his stomach. He smiled down at you. "You can test the paint out on me."
You stared at him with a confused expression.
"What do you mean?" He chuckled and detached himself from you before taking his shirt off and walking towards the room. You sat there staring at his back and fumbling with the new paintbrush in your hands.
It took you a couple of minutes before you realized what he meant. "Oh! Okay!" You exclaimed. You heard Tae laugh from the room as you grabbed all of your new supplies and dashed to the bedroom.
Tae rested on the bed on his stomach. His head was resting on his arms as he smiled at you. You grinned and placed everything on the bed before climbing onto the bed and sitting on his butt. His back was the perfect canvas.
"Do you have a preference for what I paint?" You asked shyly, grabbing an artist's palette.
"Paint Van Goghs Starry Night painting. Your eyes remind me of it because they are both enticing and filled with wonder."
You smiled to yourself and thanked God for this boy, and also thanked God that Tae couldn't see how red your cheeks were. You whispered a small okay before preparing all the paint. You dipped your brush into the first color but stopped right before it touched his skin.
"It's going to be cold." You warned. He hummed in response. You took that as an okay and began to paint. The colors glided perfectly over his sunkissed skin; a smile played on your lips as the painting came together perfectly.
You spoke softly to Tae about his day until his responses began to delay and finally were replaced with soft snores. After that, you just sang quietly to yourself as you finished and stood up to take a picture of your hard work. You kneeled by the bed and placed a small kiss on his slightly pouted lips. He stirred a bit and opened one eye.
"Are you done?" He asked in a husky voice. You nodded and kissed him once more.
"Go back to sleep. I'll wake you up when dinner is done." He nodded sleepily and buried his head deeper into your pillow.
As you cleaned up the paint from your bed and headed towards the door, you heard him faintly whisper. "I love you."
You bit your lip. "I love you too."
You answered back before closing the door behind you.
