He doesn't know how to say goodbye but he can open any doors in two seconds. Triggered. He's on top of buildings again.
'The elevator's stopping in... 3... 2... 1...'
He put on his headphones and just like that, the whole world disappears. He is accompanied by a strange orchestra, when he was interrupted by an incoming call, it was you. Hacking into surveillance cams, he gave a rough look on the situation concerning his vigilante team and after he deemed: Safe; he answered the call.
'Where the fuck have you been!?' You lashed. Tae Oh closed his eyes and throwing his head back to calm himself. 'How could you do this to me. No calls. No texts. The dinner, babe. It was all we were talking about for the past two months, babe. Not two weeks, two. Months. You hear me?' You exhaled hard. Hands on your hips.
Tae Oh punched some commands and tracked you. Then he hooks the line with the surveillance cameras around you and had a good view of you. The traffic is green so you had to wait until it turns red. 'I don't know where you are, what you're doing. And when I call, and the call does get through, you don't say a word... Are you putting me on mute?' You bit your lips in anger.
The wide screen on a building was just showing an advertisement about a new phone and you swore it flashed twice. 'Have you been eating well? Sleeping at least for six hours... those games are going to ruin your pretty eyes, I told you that before and I'm going to tell you again...' your voice softens. Conerns pouring over your words. The wide screen flashed again and this time, you looked up at it, glaring. It was almost 6 in the evening. The sun is almost completely gone. 'I thought it was an advertisement about a new phone design, but it's showing words?' People beside you starts chattering, blankly. They didn't think much about it, just, it was a bit peculiar.
And plain weird. It never happened before, or has it?
You snapped your head at the wide screen. 'Don't worry.' With a huge heart animation behind the words. You blinked. 'Since you answered my calls, I think you're doing okay? I hoped. I missed you... I'm sorry I lash out on you. The week has been hard and without you, it's gone from bad to worse.' You pouted against the phone. ‘My eyes hurts, my body is sore, everything hurts.’
The wide screen glitched again and it showed a different set of words this time, 'Stay strong.'
'What's wrong with the billboard today? It's like it's responding to everything I say... and what's wrong with the traffic light, it’s been green for so long. I can't get across, and the bus is arriving soon...' you scowled at the screen. The traffic light instantly turned yellow then red, allowing you and all the other pedestrians to cross.
'Shouldn't you be saying something to your girlfriend? She did tell you she missed you...' you trailed and walked past the zebra crossings to the other side.
Tae Oh brushed his thumb on the screens that showed you walking. The LED screen by the bus stop you stood at flashes. Quite brightly. But there wasn't anyone around you to notice the bizarre occurrence. 'Wait for me awhile longer... I love you.' It wrote. And your face contorted into extreme comfort.
'That was you, wasn't it?' You smiled against the phone.
Tae Oh bit his lips cutely. He types urgently on his keyboard.
'Your one and only.'
You blinked proudly and spun around, leaning your back on the LED screen. 'When will I see you...' you groaned. The LED flashed a huge heart emoticon and a word: 'Soon.' You rested your palm on the screen and breathed in. 'Can you see me? Gosh I miss you...' You could feel the tears coming, but you're a strong girl, and you won't be defeated by the wait. 'I need you...'
He has been away from your heart too long. Although he tries to stay close to you however he can, through the magical today's technology can offer, nothing beats the real thing. 'It's hard without you...' he typed on the LED, and you almost cried. '...It must have been important to you for you to stray this long. Just, promise me, you'll be home, safe and well fed.' You warned him.
'I'd do anything to give you a hug right now, two hours of long hugs and nothing else.' You sighed. Tae Oh smiled in the distance. His colleague signalling him that the job is done so he could reassign the lift's duty, as it is because the diamond is in their possession. With a click of his commands, the lift moves again.
'Do me a favor and tell me what time is the bus arriving, because I want to sleep early tonight...' you shifted in your seat, looking around for the sign of any bus. There wasn't any. 'Taxi.' The LED spelled and in five seconds, a taxi stopped at your feet. 'Miss? I'm here to send you home...' the driver got out of his car.
'I'm Tae Oh's acquaintance.' He nods and his wrinkly smile gave you warmth. The call ended, abruptly.
'Meet my dad.' The LED flashed before returning to its usual advertisement. The rest of the road home was all green light. And then your bank account sent you a bank statement text message. '30 million...?' Your eyes widened. Along with his personal text. 'Spend it well.' And a wink.
Guess having a hacker boyfriends isn't half bad. You get free money, and technologies speaks to you. The traffic lights are amazingly nice to you too. Tae Oh is a hacker. And you've been hacked.
