According to the guy at the Idyllwild Nature Center, that little thing jutting out to the left of the higher peak is Tahquitz Peak. That rockface is where the Yosemite Decimal System was was developed, a system that is used to classify hikes and climbs to date (cool!). The Nature Center also taught me that according to the Native Americans, a demon is believed to live in that rock (not cool!), which I laughed off at first until I sprained my right ankle for the second time in my life yesterday afternoon (super not cool!). Yep, I’m blaming a demon in a tomb for that. I didn’t even think I had sprained it because I was able to walk on it right after it happened (you don’t want to know how it happened - it’s embarrassing).
