An obsessive creature, this mysterious animal stopped at nothing in order to exact its revenge for the loss, and consumption, of its tail.

Tailypo is a frightening creature from Appalachian folklore. It is said to be around the size of a dog, with bright red or yellow eyes, black fur and a long tail. It has claws, which it can use to attack people, and is also able to speak.

The most famous version of the Tailypo story sees a hunter sever the creature's tail. He takes it back to his cabin, cooks it at eats it. That night, he awakens to find Tailypo glaring at him from the foot of his bed, and demanding the return of its tail. He manages to fight it off, and it is chased away by the hunter's dogs. Each night, however, it returns, climbing further up the bed, until eventually it reaches his head and kills him.

All's not lost

Until I have lost my mind

Into the night As if I am some sort of time lord

A poet’s tailbone

Is where they keep their tales

My tailbone is tired

I shall steal my sleep

From tomorrow

I am a true night time poet

With dry, tangled hair

Who knows where I’ll be able to take myself

Some is lost

And I'll admit that I fucked up

But I can almost trust

That this shall continue

I shall continue on this journey

That is full of losing

And gaining
