AAAAAGH this is so painful and delicious everyone scream with meeeeeee
If you are looking for One Piece Fanfictions to read, the works from Taisi (izthe hero) would be my number one recommendation. It doesn’t matter what OTP you have because their fanfictions are pretty general in the sense of romance, and because it is so that their works are so enjoyable to read.
I tried to make a Top 5, but it’s impossible, so here is a Top 10 list.
#10: One Little Thing
Luffy gets hurt in the kitchen, and his friends overreact because they can.
In terms of fluffiness, This one definitely takes the prize.
#9: Truths We Hold
"People die," Franky yells at his captain, fists clenched in the fabric of his shirt. "For once in your life just face the truth!"
#8: A Funny, Traveling Tale
There's a singing skeleton on the street corner. You can't help but notice as you wait for your coffee that he looks a little lonely, standing by himself. You wonder what he's doing in your busy little town, so colorfully out of place and alien in a corner of the world that runs on habit and routine.
#7: Ulterior
Sanji, who's been in plenty of bar fights since signing on as a Straw Hat, knows a particular type of danger when he sees it. (In which Luffy is too trusting, and at the end of the day Sanji has ulterior motives of his own.)
If you want to be picky, sure this has some shipping in it, if you squint. If you are not, I assure that you will squeal with delight.
#6: Clinical Practice
"I'm his doctor!" Chopper all but shrieked, closer to hysterical than he'd ever been- because in four days time those people could really have hurt Luffy, and he was so tired of being treated like a kid. "I'm his doctor, and I'm going to find him right now!"
Now this one is a little bit dark, but hey, don’t deny that you don’t love that.
#5: Bon Voyage
They don't say, "We saved you, we didn't have to." They don't say, "We're pirates, we don't owe you a thing." They don't say, "He's so important, and what are you?" Because they don't have to.
This one also a bit dark, but it’s more bittersweet than anything else. I loved it.
#4: Grateful-day
“Some countries take a day to celebrate all the things they're grateful for, and they call it Thanksgiving Day.”
Now this. THIS. I just got no words for the amount of happiness this one gave me.
#3: Standards
"You aren't planning on bringing that boy in with you tomorrow night, are you? Our restaurant has certain standards."
I swear I’ve read this one for about eight times already, and I still don’t get tired of it.
#2: Calendars and Kings
"When I was little, all the other kids got treats and candies on my birthday too, so I didn't know it was special for me. Ace always said it was, but I thought that was just 'cause he was my big brother. I thought that since it was already a holiday, it didn't count!"
Yes, this is bittersweet, but the sweetness bursts at the end. Totally worth breaking your heart at the beginning for.
#1: Chasing Flowers
"It's an old tradition in our town; on the second week of the second month of the year, you leave flowers for the one you love, for them to follow back to you. By their house, where they work, nooks and corners that are special secrets between just the two of you."
I have seen that a lot of people like this one the most out of all their work, but it is with good reason. What with being longer, that’s like asking if you’d prefer a flimsy taco vs a juicy hamburger to fill you up. It’ll definitely fill you up with fluff and happiness and so much love.
+1: Fishbowl
"You're not real," their baby brother insists adamantly for the fifth time, and Ace and Sabo share a look of actual distress; because Luffy is staring at them blankly, as if they should know very well they don't exist.
I felt like this one deserved a special mention because this is the first fanfic that I found and read from this author. It’s definitely different from the other ones, in my opinion, and it’s rightfully so. It’s mainly about the ASL trio rather than the crew, but it gives you the same amount of feels. Warning: you might want some tissues while reading this.
Title: Clinical Practice Author: Taisi Pairing(s) or No Pairing: No Pairing Rating: T Genre: Hurt&Comfort/Friendship Complete/Ongoing: Complete (~3000) Summary: “I’m his doctor!” Chopper had all but shrieked, closer to hysterical than he’d ever been- because in four days time those people could really have hurt Luffy, and he was so tired of being treated like a kid. “I’m his doctor, and I’m going to find him right now!” Review: This is a very sweet story and focuses mostly on Chopper and his importance. It is a lovely reflection of his relationship to Luffy and quite emotional in the sense that Chopper knows his limits, but he’s also a Straw Hat and will do anything to protect his nakama. Title: Bon Voyage Author: Taisi Pairing(s) or No Pairing: No pairings/Nakamaship Characters: Strawhats Rating: T Genre: Friendship/Family Complete/Ongoing: Complete Oneshot/Multi-Chapter: Oneshot(~1,3k) Summary: They don’t say, “We saved you, we didn’t have to.” They don’t say, “We’re pirates, we don’t owe you a thing.” They don’t say, “He’s so important, and what are you?” Because they don’t have to. (In which the straw hats aren’t heroes, and they have better things to do.) Nakamaship, outsider POV. Review: It might not be long, but that doesn‘t make it less good. Written from the unlikely 2nd perspective (a personal favorite of mine) it describes what we -who tend to see everything from the strawhat‘s perspective- are inclined to oversee: That the strawhats are pirates, and not martyrs who go out of their way to save people.
