There's something about the small interactions between the Straw Hats in OPLA that just really gets me. How they're such small details sometimes but reveal so much about the characters.

For example, the contrast in the reactions of Nami, Zoro and Sanji to Miss Wednesday mocking them about not having a log-port and not even knowing what that is. Sanji gets immediately defensive and scrambles to pretend that they do totally know what a log-port is to save face. It's not something that really should wound his ego but he can't deal with being mocked like this so he feels the need to defend himself/them. Nami doesn't say anything and by her expression you can tell that this criticism hits her hard. She's supposed to know this stuff, she's the navigator, that's how she defines herself and the others rely on her for it. Realizing she's not as good as she thought she was, that she had this massive blindspot about something others consider self-evident, attacks the very core of her self-image which is why she can't muster any defense against it, stays silent and just looks kind of shell-shocked. And then there's Zoro who is, of course, not happy about being mocked but also doesn't seem to be too bothered by it. He doesn't react strongly or as strongly as he probably would if he was mocked for something he cared about more deeply like his fighting prowess. Instead, he basically admits that they're right, that at least he has no idea what a log-port is, because he turns to Nami and asks her that very question. He doesn't get defensive like Sanji does or is as affected as Nami is, he's just kinda honest and he also assumes that Nami knows what Miss Wednesday is talking about even if he himself doesn't. I find that honestly really cute! (And Nami reacts to his question looking visibly annoyed, but more annoyed at herself for not knowing the answer when she so obviously should.) It's fascinating to me how this is such a short little scene but it perfectly exemplifies the characters' different personalities.

Another interesting contrast is how Nami reacts to Sanji's reassurances regarding her navigator skills before they sail up Reverse Mountain vs Luffy's reassurance and later Zoro's regarding her navigating them on the Grand Line. To Sanji, she gives a simple acknowledgement in a pretty neutral tone, recognizing what he says but also not being affected by it much. It makes sense since Sanji's reassurances towards her in this context are very shallow, he compliments her immediately on whatever the topic is because he's Sanji and she's a woman, but it's not something that really counts for anything. Luffy's reassurance is more sincere and speaks of his heartfelt belief in her skills. It's still something he extends to all of them pretty much indiscriminately but it's carried by this genuine, unwavering confidence that he has that is just really infectious about Luffy in general, so it works and Nami looks genuinely appreciative of it. Zoro's comment is even more special because he's very sparse in his praise and motivating speeches, he's often sarcastic or very blunt about mistakes and shortfalls (like Nami herself is). So him of all people expressing to Nami that, even though she's facing a very challenging, seemingly insurmountable situation, she will overcome and rise above it counts for a lot and, as a result, she looks very comforted by this expression of Zoro's genuine trust in her.
