Start with Bardroy being incredible tired and incredibly drained and messing up everything 10 times more than usual because he is down to 20% energy levels, running on fumes.

He can’t sleep.

His mind is really torturing him with nightmares lately.

ENTER LAU, ~coincidentally~ staying over a day or two.. oh, no reason, per say, it’s just been a while since he was a guest of the Earl’s and since the little Earl doesn’t seem to be THAT busy with, as Lau puts it, “Sniffing out the Queen’s enemies like a good little guard dog~” he figured he’d come by while he can~!

And thus the chef falls into his his welcoming, understanding arms for these two nights Lau is staying.. letting lean hands run through his thin scruffy blond hair, and don to rub his tight, tense shoulders and back.. to drop kisses here and there and hum random tunes remembered vaguely of times past... 

Lau soothes the former soldier of the memories that haunt his mind.

Lau reminds him.. that at present.. he is here.. alive.. and safe.

And though his former family is dead, his current family is here and happily living. Breathing. Not going anywhere any time soon.

And that includes Lau who holds him all through the night.

Bardroy has not a trace of nightmares during those days, and his spirits are rejuvenated tenfold.
