"keep taking the garbage out"
This is the perfect triple entendre in the form of the best dating advice I ever recieved.
First, literally. Keep taking the trash out. If you want love in your life, keep living it. Stay open and curious and keep relentlessly doing all the everyday stuff involved in survival - including creating waste. And keep taking the waste out. Keep going out. Stay open everywhere - you must go. The laundromat, the library, the grocery store and the curb - with the garbage. Keep taking it out.
Second, metaphorically. In terms of the potential "dates" you do meet, keep taking the garbage out. You don't have to connect with or like everyone who is interested in you. There will always be more people to meet. Also, dating someone who you don't end up in love with is not a waste - it's just another opportunity to get out there. Take that garbage out, too. Kick the people who don't fit to the abstract proverbial curb.
Third, another analogy. Whatever the current state of your "love life", if you are: in a relationship, out there investigating and being curious, or happy-go-lucky into yourself - your own shit is going to float up. All productive relationships with others and within ourselves bring up crap we must deal with, natural by-products. Keep taking that garbage out, too.
So there you have it. My trifecta of passed-along waste-management or dating advice. Save it as long as it's useful to you. Then, you know what to do with it.
