junpei was the first one to barge into the room, slamming the door open without a single care and yelling out your name, only to grow quiet as he realized what he had just walked into

mitsuru and akihiko were shortly behind him, already scolding him for being so loud so late in the evening and entering without knocking, before those two fell silent as well, as they laid eyes on yukari and you

yukari rolled her eyes, quietly mumbling to herself, as you and her followed junpei through tartarus.

this wasn't your first time here, but it was the first time the team had decided to split up. while makoto went with akihiko and mitsuru, yukari found herself stuck with junpei and you!

“as i was just saying: i'll protect the two of you! so no need to be sca–”

junpei loosely swung his weapon, humming to himself, while yukari and you both kept a firm grip on your weapons. just when junpei was about to round a corner, the boy let out an uncharacteristically high pitched scream.

“w-waaAAAAHHH–!!”

junpei jumped back, the sudden noise and movement startling you and yukari as well. before the three of you knew what was happening, you found yourself clinging onto each other and trembling. though as soon as the initial shock faded and the three of you relaxed again, seeing the tiny shadow stare up at you and seeming more afraid of the three of you than you were.

it was then that you noticed just how close you all were, clinging to each other, with no regard for personal space!

“e-eww, get away from me–!”

yukari quickly began pushing junpei off her. though as you were about to do the same and step back, yukari quickly grabbed your hand and a soft blush spread over her cheeks.

“n-no, not you! you can stay…! and… you can keep holding onto my hand… i-if you are scared, i mean…”

her voice was calm and as she spoke, a smile rested on her lips. she actually seemed happy. and knowing that you couldn't even fight back in this way broke you. and you finally teared up.

“you… you took away all my friends… you took them away from me, when i would've been fine with being yours in the first place. but now… i can't even look at you, without feeling sick! you're a monster–!”

yukari gently wrapped her arms around you as you spoke. you simply closed your eyes, too weak to fight her off. your spirit had been broken. there was nothing you could do anymore.

“i know it hurts now, darling. but soon, you realize how much better the world is when it's just the two of us. i know you'll see it!”
