Last night was supposed to be a nonviolent rally, but the police kept antagonizing the protestors and eventually arrested and injured four people from our group. Everyone was released after midnight and we are all relieved. But for real though, The U.S. dropping bombs in Syria because they have "chemical weapons of mass destruction" will eventually lead to a war based on lies and loss of innocent lives. I was only 11 years old when Bush declared War on Terror in Iraq. 14 years later and another major war is brewing - déjà vu much? Now I'm a grown ass adult and I care and will stand in solidarity for the black and brown folks, working class, indigenous, and oppressed groups. ABQNY International Student Solidarity Statement The militant youth of Anakbayan Queens condemns, in the harshest terms, ICE’s insidious and arbitrary rule stating that international students are not allowed to remain in the U.S. if their college or university holds online-only classes as a COVID-19 precautionary measure. This will disrupt the studies of nearly 1.5 million international students living, working and studying in the U.S. As a group of Filipinx youth and students, the measure directly threatens members of our own community. The shameless policing of immigrant students, whether F-1 or undocumented, as well as the continued and intensified criminalization and detention of migrant workers and refugees will not stand.
