Forgive the personal post. So this year I decided to pursue my dream of a military career. As I think I've mentioned. Kel was always my idol in terms of work ethics and morals. This year I conquered my fear of heights by taking up rock climbing. And I'm still working every day to overcome that fear. I started physical training and have gained a tonne of muscle. And now just like kel it's time for a weighted harness to prep for combat gear weight. I'm going to wear it climbing and working out. is there any where that says what colour Alanna's emberstone is? I want to do an Alanna Cosplay
I believe it just says that it is a coal from the fire that glows so I would assume it to be clear with black edges and have a fluctuating red,orange, yellow, blue, white glow within. I know lots of people draw it as purple but I don’t think this is canon. Anyone else have thoughts?
I agree. While I always thought the scene could have had another paragraph or two talking about how with a half human its different, and humans are held to different standards, i wouldn't shit on the entire series due to one paragraph. The rest of the books have great themes about empowering women and what is wrong and right
Thank you for your addition! — I certainly can’t say what will or won’t make or break a series for everyone individually but sometimes I think Tamora Pierce adds these lines to challenge our modern conventions and make us think about how we perceive things as normal in our society. She is faced with the conflict of being true to the message as well as true to the character and in this instance I think it may not be all it seems.
Tamora Pierce confirmed that Seaver of Tasride is the son of Alanna's first cousin (on his dad's side). One of his grandparents was the sibling of Alanna's mother. So, Alanna DOES have relatives, but on her mother's side. But inheritance normally follow's the father's side, so unless her father had secret relatives too, I'm putting my money on Alanna giving the fief to Coram somehow.
