I'm willing to believe, since Mara was actually dead when Riven was Taken, that she did not plan for or foresee all of this. She can't possibly be all-knowing. Even Hive Gods aren't. For now I'm sure she's doing more damage control than anything and working on her "plan" as she goes. Maybe you need *less* faith.
