I think Ruffnut could look absolutely cute, caring about Snotlout fallen ill (this is an old way of taking temperature).
Caretaker feeling for a temperature: Hand on the whumpee’s forehead or hand against the whumpee’s cheek?
Which is better?
My first 'patient'...
...went a little this
And twist
And twist
andtwistandtwistandtwist but from no angle could I find the mercury reading on the thermometer. I made up a value of 36.8 degrees C. Unfortunately though, the 'patient' was also my examiner and she checked, only to find that the meter read something very different, because I also could not shake the mercury down before sticking it in her mouth.
A day of first Inspections, Palpations, Percussions, and Auscultations. The first day of this 6 year MB, ChB course that I put theory to practice. A scary day, an exciting day, a promising day.
I guess that this year, I saw myself as a student. A stem cell. Something that could develop into anything. But today was scary as shit because I realised that I WILL become a doctor and I WILL hold someone's life in my hand in the form of a mercury stick. A guess of "Probably normal" won't cut it. For a moment I doubted whether I'm ready. But then I heard a 4th year say, "You'll never feel ready."
I hope I'm becoming someone patients will trust. With secrets and with lives and with all the other precious eggs you only put in the basket held by the person with the steadiest hands and the coolest head.
But hey, I have 5 more years...
5 years to learn to shake down the thermometer.
