This is the Giant Bucket Wheel Excavator, called Bagger 293, previously know as MAN Takraf RB293.

This monster it is the LARGEST land vehicle ever in human history, made by the German company TAKRAF.

Being as large they seem to be, they are restricted to use in just the biggest quarries on the planet. Transport is obviously difficult and the cost is unprecedented.

TAKRAF war ein Kombinat der DDR und ist die Abkürzung für Tagebau-Ausrüstungen, Krane und Förderanlagen. 
Ein wichtiger Betriebe des Kombinats war die VEB ZEMAG Zeitz, die 1871 gegründet wurde und in den 80er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts circa 2500 Mitarbeiter hatte. Nach der Wende in der DDR und der Wiedervereinigung wurde der VEB Zemag Zeitz 1990 privatisiert und ging Anfang 2001 in Konkurs.

The conveyor system that connects the newly developed Chimiwungo pit at Lumwana Copper Mine to the existing process plant has ben put to operation. The system comprises a 300-metre-long sacrificial conveyor, a 3.4-kilometre-long overland conveyor and a 500-metre-long conveyor feeding the process plant at a design capacity of 5140 tonnes per hour.
