Tala crosses his arms and sighs. "When were you going to tell me this?"
Kai glares; lips remaining firmly shut.
Tala tries his very best not to sigh again. 'Patience', he tells himself. 'Channel your inner Spencer and be patient.'
"Look," he finally breathes, very careful to keep his voice even. "You need someone to patch you up and I'm right here, with nothing better to do.... so?"
He waits. Arms still very much crossed, but disapproving frown slowly letting up to allow a tiny bit of concern to peak through.
The openes of his gesture most somehow be the key to his former teammate letting his guard down, because Kai stops hunching his shoulders and his lips form a ghost of a smile. It's a small smile, resigned, tired, but a smile none the less.
It's as if a weight falls of Tala shoulders at the sight and he finds himself echoing the expression. "Come on," he says stepping back to let the other pass him into the apartment. "Let's take a look at that before you bleed out, idiot."
His words are familiar, concerned, fond.
Just like old times.
