Miracle Blindness
I would like to share with you the opening paragraphs of the story Miracle Blindness from the book Tales of Existence.
“We are all writers — though how masterful we are is debatable. Until the final moment, despite every hardship, we remain the authors of our own stories. Some write without knowing what they’re writing; some, with meticulous planning and carefully chosen words. In the end, every life begins and ends — and each story is added to the library of experiences. Some of these thick-bound volumes are read over and over, while others are completely forgotten.
The Librarian knows each story on the shelves by heart. She doesn’t particularly like most of them — many are riddled with corruption. But no matter what’s written within them, they are still experiences. So she never judges. When asked, she remembers them all. Because together, they form the intricate pieces of a perfect order — an order she has served since her beginning.
Her work is heavy. She is responsible for ensuring every story is placed exactly where it belongs. She knows nothing of what mortals call rest. Yet more than anything, she longs to have her own story among the shelves of the library she was born to serve. She, too, wants to become a writer. She wants to live a mortal experience.
Time passed — and the moment she had waited for finally came. The new Librarian arrived, and with their coming, she was released to fulfill her own destiny.”
