She passed.
As something essentially created by an elemental force known for its destructive capabilities, it wasn't surprising that there were things... wrong. Tiny, tiny things that most people wouldn't notice. The fact that she would occasionally burn herself despite essentially being living flames, for example.
She burned out. Burned too hot, and went out. Poof, gone like smoke. There was nothing left behind.
She had always said that it would be the death of her, hanging around so many heroes. In private she had always felt inadequate next to them, those living legends. It was to be expected, that someday she'd try to emulate them. But she was still very young. And she had no training. Just a sudden surge of brash, overconfident heroism.
She won, if that counts for anything. Saved the lives of three people. Nothing special, compared to the heroic deeds of some of her friends. But it was a good start. Or it would have been, if she hadn't died doing it.
She didn't have a lot in the world. Just a tiny motel room with a tiny dresser full of clothes and jewelry. It was distributed among her friends, or donated. A pair of bacon&egg earrings were given to the niece of the motel owners. The motel room was cleaned and made available again.
In many ways it was like she had never existed. All that was left was the memories, and in time, even those faded.
Some say life is a test. It seemed doubtful at first, but in the end
she passed.
