12 & 15!
12. did you enjoy any compulsory high school readings?
i read beloved by toni morrison senior year of high school which i thought was an extremely good book. also enjoyed cat’s cradle by kurt vonnegut. and my teacher did this thing where we always watched live performance or movie versions of plays so i enjoyed hamlet & the importance of being earnest but i watched those more than i read them really.
15. recommend and review a book
hmmm a book i really liked but don’t think i’ve mentioned on here is the seas by samantha hunt. really interesting look into the mind of a character who very strongly believes something that the reader very much knows is false (she thinks she’s a mermaid) and i love deep dives into self delusional narrators. also really enjoyed the general writing style. none of samantha hunt’s other novels/short stories have resonated with me at all but this one really stuck with me
