First day of the semester tabling in the fucking winter #TallySDS Goes hard In the paint
On Thursday, December 3rd, at 3 PM, Students for a Democratic Society will be holding a protest in front of the Westcott administration building to demand that the affirmative action program be reinstated and for an end to racist admissions policies. This is happening along with other SDS chapters and affiliates across the country that are holding events for Affirmative Action in response to an upcoming Supreme Court case. The Court has decided to take a second look at the Fisher v. University of Texas case, which deals with the legality of the affirmative action program used in the University of Texas system. However, the decision made in this case will decide the fate of affirmative action programs in colleges and universities across the United States. http://www.newsds.org/2015/10/students-for-democratic-society-week-of.html In Florida, affirmative action policies have been banned since 1999 when politicians like John Thrasher and Jeb Bush worked to implement the "One Florida Initiative" which resulted in the drastic decrease in black enrollment at universities across the state. At Florida State University, SDS and other groups have been building a campaign to increase Black enrollment by putting an end to racist entrance policies and reinstating the affirmative action program. Demand Affirmative Action! End Racist Testing and Entrance Policies! Education for All!
A group of Florida State students rallied in support of higher minority enrollment and condemned racism on campus Tuesday.
#TallySDS stands with students of color at #mizzou We are in solidarity with those who fight against the white supremacist settlerism. Education is a right and no student should have to deal with racist violence. #blackeducationmatters #standwithmizzou #concernedstudents1950
