#WaybackWednesday: Tuesday morning (5/17/2022) I covered the Tamarac High School College Signing Day inside the LGI room for “The Eastwick Press”. Nine seniors signed their letters of intent to play college sports at their respective college/university. This was the third time I covered a sports signing event at my HS Alma matter and that, along with their District Wide Art Show, and the book vending machine ribbon cutting ceremony at the Elementary cafeteria, were nice!! #FridayWorkday: Happy “Friday Workday” everyone!! Today’s work office was spent covering my high school’s Class of 2021 commencement ceremony for “The Eastwick Press”!! I missed a little part of the ceremony due to my early morning doctor’s appointment (physical/mental health check) but was glad I was able to photo shoot this again for the 4th time!! This year’s commencement wasn’t held under a tent this time!! Families were able to remain seated on the football field behind the graduating students waiting to receive their diplomas!! No masks and temperature checks were needed this time around!! Superintendent Angeline Maloney gave an emotional speech to send off the graduating class before receiving their diploma holders. Despite everything that all students, faculty, and staff endured during the pandemic, this graduating class remained together & worked hard to get to where they are today!!! Congratulations to the Tamarac High School Class of 2021!! Best of luck, love, and well wishes to you all in your future!! May you all remain “Bengal Strong” & “Bengal Proud” of one another!! #FlashbackFriday: Happy “Flashback Friday” everyone!! Flashing back to Wednesday morning (6/16/2021) when I went to my HS Alma Matter to photo shoot a college sports letter of intent signing press conference for “The Eastwick Press”. Nine Tamarac HS seniors signed their letters to play college sports in the fall outside the school track!! Congratulations to all on their college acceptance and best of luck to them with their sports career!! On the same day, my friends and I were spotted on the noon @news10abc feature story of the fireworks display held Tuesday evening at the Empire State Plaza for reaching 70% vaccination in NYS!! #WaybackWednesday & #OnThisDate: Happy Wednesday everyone!! On this day last year (6/16/2020), I was at Tamarac HS covering an outdoor event! Elementary School students were dropping off their computer supplies, picking up their school supplies, and met with their teachers as they celebrated their moving up day from Pre-K, Kindergarten, & 5th Grade!! Today (6/16/2021) I covered another event at work at the school. This time it was a High School Sports event in which 9 Seniors signed their letters of intent to play sports at their college of choice held on the school track!! Congratulations are in order for the Tamarac High School Class of 2020 who graduated this morning!! I wish you all much love, luck, & well wishes into what you pursue in your future. In the 13 years since I’ve graduated from there (Class of 2007) and the three years that I’ve now covered this special ceremony for “The Eastwick Press”, the 61st Annual Tamarac High School Commencement Ceremony was certainly one in the history books for its uniqueness, given the current situation we’re in. 13 years ago, my graduation ceremony took place inside a crowded district auditorium surrounded by my graduating class, faculty, family, guests, & neighbors to commentate this milestone. 2020, under Co-VID 19, graduates were required to social distance, wear masks upon receiving their diploma holders, have their temperatures checked, family members sat at small tables to watch their children graduate one section at a time and from their vehicles during procession, and the ceremony was live streamed under a giant tent on the football field!! We take these important milestones and moments like this for granted!! Despite the situation, this class remained together and persevered during the final few school months to complete their work and graduate in person with their classmates!! Cherish every waking milestone, every special moment with those who mean the most to you!! Amazing job to all involved at Tamarac High School for making this commencement happen for the students, family, and community under these surreal times. It was a beautiful, heartfelt commencement!!
