COMING FRIDAY to Tamarah's Closet for a LIVE INTERVIEW....Artist Therese Rink Streicher! I am so excited to have this talented artist from South Africa on my show! I love her outlook on life and love her beautiful abstract work! BIO: Up until 2011, Therese was not an active part of the art world, never having had attempting panting. She tried her hand as a legal clerk, au pair, caterer, and experienced a few other “spectacular failures.” Recovering from failures is ‘okay” to Therese, for she tends to see the funny side of things, eventually. She summarizes herself as a “pizza lover and mom to budding scientist.” Therese lives in Hermanus, a beautiful seaside village in the Western Cape, known or its whale watching. She spends a lot of her time in the Hennie Neimann Snr Gallery and she also curates for Vermont Contemporary Gallery. Therese has always loved art, studying it while going to many exhibitions, even though her learning was more academic. While she completed her BA law degree at the University of Pretoria, she found it very stressful, therefore spending her young life traveling to avoid becoming embroiled in the trappings of the legal profession. After spending a few years abroad, she returned to South Africa trying to fall once again into the work force once again, confessing that she was a “spectacular failure” at every job she attempted. Finding that everything seemed futile and boring, she found it difficult to apply herself and become motivated. While Therese may not feel she is an artist, I disagree, for I am passionate about her beautiful abstracts and look forward to learning more about her this Friday! **** These are just a few of her works!
