The cast of my book Tameless's first Act! I decided to make some changes to a few of the characters designs and names so it fits the story I'm trying to tell much better. Just focusing on fixing up the plot of the first act here and there so the rest of the writing is actually fun to work on. There is a LOT more characters in this story than I've drawn here, but these are the main ones at the beginning who kick everything off! The story follows Ember, a coyote rebel in a world of animals, where carnivores are heavily monitored by its government and forced to wear shock collars to keep their "hunter instincts at bay." After a rabies outbreak that affected the carnivores worst of all, animal kind has been forced underground to hide from the fallout in the now thriving Utopia of the former Mining City, Tengoku- the heart of technological advancement, and the “safest city in the entire animal kingdom,” even from its own citizens.
The actual story is supposed to be kind of a mix of dystopia/part zombie apocalypse/fallout. Without giving away TOO much, here’s some more info on the characters below!
Ember: A coyote part of the group known as the Free Predators, who wish to fight against the heavy security and shock collars placed on carnivores like them. She is a bit of a coward overall and hates conflict of any kind, which usually puts her at odds with Arcturus, who believes carnivores like them need to use brute strength to get their freedom
Celeste: A polar bear prisoner of the Underground City, formerly a revered Lady of the Mining Houses before she made a deal with the rebels to take care of her son Arcturus so he could be free, in exchange for insider information
Roman: Ember's older adopted brother, a deer with a temper more vicious than even the carnivore animals he fears. He is a bit of a technological prodigy, his parents having been the creators of the shock collars, and uses his knowledge to create advanced traps. Roman works for the underground city as a specially trained soldier dedicated to rooting out rebellion. He hates the idea of being seen as weak, helpless prey, and believes all carnivores are evil incarnate
Councillor Lupa: The gray wolf ambassador of predator-prey relations in the underground city, and Roman and Ember's adopted mom. Lupa believes that the collars and security are the only way to keep carnivores such as themselves in line, and has become sort of the underground city's "face" of an ideal carnivore. She took the "problem child" Ember in under her wing in the hopes she could perhaps "right" whatever was "wrong" with the coyote
Arcturus: the brash polar bear leader of the rebel group, the Free Predators. He is still very young and naive, and having never lived under heavy security or with the shock collars in his life, he has trouble understanding carnivores who are "too afraid" to fight back
