FINALLY! It's time to reveal the prompts and rules of Whispangle Week 2021
Tangle and Whisper are in a game?!
Well, I learned something today that I definently was not expecting...
Tangle and Whisper are going to be payable characters in an upcoming event in the mobile game Sonic Forces Speed Battle! Not only that, but apparently models and data of them were also found found in Sonic Dash, so they could also be in that game as well or they might have been originally planned for that one and were instead put in Speed Battle.
Like I said, I wasn’t expecting this to happen, and I’m also a little sad that their first debut in a game has to be in a mobile game of all things (since I don’t really like mobile games, but that’s just me), but it’s still cool to see that the IDW cast is finally starting to move over the games, even if it’s just in a minimal capacity. And hey, maybe this is a sign that more characters will be coming and maybe they’ll also start appearing in the main games as well when Sega finally makes more games. Would this be enough for me to check out Sonic Forces Speed Battle? Maybe, but I dunno. (Although if they added Rough and Tumble, there would be no questions, I’d get the game in a heartbeat :3)
Oh, and I should probably mention the fact that this is the very first time we’ve ever seen official 3D models and renders of any of the IDW cast, which is pretty cool.
The stunning conclusion of Tangle and Whisper...
Issue 4 of Tangle and Whisper came out today, so let’s get cracking!
Picking up where we left off on the the preview pages, we have Tangle doing a thing!
Honestly, when I first read this, my mind was going “HOW DOES TANGLE NOT REALIZE THAT THAT’S MIMIC I MEAN JUST LOOK AT HIS HANDS AND FEET”.
However, the next page proves that it was all actually part of Tangle’s plan...
There’s one thing I find interesting about this part right here... If the Shadow Androids killed Slinger, Smithy, and Claire, and they were all wearing their masks when they died, how exactly did Whisper get them to put them on the wall right there? Maybe she stole them back from Eggman, but you’d think if that was the case, then Eggman and Mimic would have realized that Whisper was alive sooner.
Also, I love how that Vending Machine is still there and is somehow still fully stocked :3
Next, we have a really cool fight scene with Tangle and Mimic...
And then Whisper shows up...
Woah, this just got nuts! Also, if Mimic can turn into monster Vector here, doesn’t that imply he knows who Vector is? Maybe we’ll find out eventually.
And then, we have this final scene with Whisper making an important decision...
And so, Tangle and Whisper take Mimic to Tails, because... why not?
Mimic’s probably going to break out of prison, there’s no way he wouldn’t.
Also, there’s something I find hilarious about that shot of Whisper telling Tails not to open the cell. Just the look on her face as she says it is amazing to me :3
And so, the day is saved, and Tangle and Whisper go their seperate ways...
...And then the Metal Virus attacked. Don’t you just hate it when that happens?
Remember when I said I thought Slinger was older than Claire and Whisper and closer to Smithy’s age?
It turns out that not only is he younger than I thought he was, but he’s also the youngest of them all.
We got the preview pages for Issue 4 of Tangle and Whisper, and... I just wanna say that this looks like it’s gonna be one of the most Badass things ever :3
Also, the fact that Tangle mentions that this base was Whisper’s home leads me to believe that the series is going to end with them blowing it up, which I think would make a pretty neat finale.
I wasn’t expecting this to happen so soon, but we got some preview pages for Tangle and Whisper Issue 3!
Here, we finally get to learn the names of the other Diamond Cutters (no longer shall I need to refer to them as Cute Lion Boy, Suave Cat Boy, and Green Hoodie Girl :3). Their names are Slinger, Smithy, and Claire Voyance (HAHA GET IT LIKE CLARVOYANCE???). Slinger was the marksman who used guns (he would get along with Shadow and Fang, obviously), Smithy was the one who made the weapons and probably the masks, and Claire has psychic powers, and they all fought alongside Whisper and Mimic.
Speaking of Mimic, his lips don’t look nearly as dry as they are in the present (also, his nose is missing), making me wonder how much time has passed since whatever happened with them happened. Given the fact that Whisper is 16 however, it probably was only a couple of years at most. Also, not only does this confirm that they were a Mercenary group, but it also implies pretty heavily that Whisper’s wisps actually belonged to the other members of the Diamond Cutters before tagging along with her.
Oh, and I already mentioned that the Retail Incentive cover looked Badass, but look at Slinger and Smithy in that last panel. I can’t wait to see some fight scenes with these dudes :3
Tangle and Whisper Issue 3 Things Happen!
Here we are with Issue 3 of Tangle and Whisper, and right off the bat, we get footage of the Diamond Cutters dying. Hooray!
...Actually, before we watch them dying, here’s this really cute page with the Diamond Cutters hanging out at their base. Don’t question why the base of a Mercenary group fighting against Eggman has a vending machine.
So that’s what happened. Mimic was in cahoots with Eggman and left the others to get killed by the Shadow Androids, but because Whisper was the only one outside, she was the only one able to get away. This also explains why Whisper might have a thing against Shadow, because it was his androids that killed them.
Back in the present, a day has passed and Mimic goes to find proof that Tangle and Whisper died. Instead, he finds a message from them...
For their climactic final battle, Whisper calls Mimic to the place where they started. Which is... where exactly? Do they mean the Diamond Cutters old base? Or do they mean Spiral Hill Village since that’s where the mini-series started? Or would it be the same base where the others died? I guess we’ll find out next time.
