I really like whenever people compare cleradin to Rapunzel and Flynn from tangled because technically by all accounts if Mike is Flynn that means Max is the horse and I honestly can’t imagine a comparison more accurate

This post talks more about it but some other significant similarities are Will and Rapunzel’s art skill + their powers being revealed when the person they love is in danger, also the Flynn/Maximus dynamic reads like the Madwheeler dynamic which I kind of love <3

Malina from Shadow and Bone

I talk about this more in this post but this similarity specifically is so insane because Shawn Levy worked on both Shadow and Bone and Stranger Things and the parallels are WILD

✅cinematic flashback scenes to their early relationship that serve as a significant plot point and source of tension

✅ “powers discovered for one person when the other is in immediate fatal danger” trope (this is especially crazy for kanej tho bc the framing of the shots in both shows is SO SIMILAR)

✅“true north” metaphors used at some point in the series for their relationship

and also this fic I wrote but the similarities are also soo incredibly devastating especially after the finale. To me Patrochilles is the premise of epilogue byler but much sadder (iykyk)

The pipeline of one of them “escaping” (for Will this means the gay bar scene we have, for Patrochilles it means death) and the other not being strong enough to follow them at first (For Mike this is being unable to accept his identity, for Achilles it’s being overcome with grief and how he’s been pulled entirely into the war) before eventually following him in spite of it (for Mike this is just anything in fanon, for Achilles it’s.., also death)

Plus sooo many lines of dialogue that read like something byler would unironically say

“It was the best thing I’ve ever done” vs “you’re the reason” like hello????
