Per 15 episodes opinions on Tanglin, the SG soap opera that ended in 2018. (Please don’t question my 2020 media choices. It is free to watch on mewatch.sg and I didn’t even need a VPN.)
E1-E15
Xue Ling/Adam is an incredibly wholesome marriage. I am rooting for this corporate woman/MMA househusband pairing, I love that they are 100% on each other’s side.
Li Yan is MVP. Manages to fix her friend’s daughter’s wedding venue and catering issues while stressing about her cancer coming back?? If this show ever kills her I will be so mad. But also, Li Yan, please learn to depend on other people.
Nadia being tired of all this marriage bullshit has me headcanon-ing her as gay even though she’s definitely gonna get a bf. Am currently shipping her/Diana as the Responsible Daughters pairing.
Because this is a SG soap opera, that definitely won’t happen - they couldn’t even have the woman who thought Arjun say the word “gay”, they just had her go “oh, the grooming, the working out, the disinterest in dating me...”
Anyway both Nadia’s marriage angst and Arjun’s mommy’s boy issues would be more compelling if they were gay, change my mind.
The Bhaskars are fucking loaded, wtf is that house. Was Bhaskar working for a minister or something in India??? Esp. since he’s just a GP now.
E15 is right before the Racial Harmony Day episode and imagining the kind of cultural appropriation discourse American progressives would have about it gives me a headache. (My opinion on Racial Harmony Day was always: as long as no one makes me wear the traditional outfits, I am happy! Everyone else looks good! I like understanding other people’s holidays!)
Diana is also a fave and I loved the whole trolling of Jay with the escort service/cleaner service thing...so funny omg.
There is 0 fic for this show. This is unsurprising and yet I am utterly indignant.
