here’s a lil nate/ej i’m working on for a different prompt from another beloved mutual

“So…” Nate does his best to look up through his eyelashes. “You come here often?”

“Shut the fuck up.” EJ stirs the powdered creamer into his coffee with more force than is probably necessary. “It’s your fault we’re here.”

Their counselor makes them all mingle at the end of each session. Today, Ken seems hell-bent on inviting anyone who will make eye contact to the cafe down the street, and Nate is hell-bent on avoiding that invite. Ken’s sweet and what happened to his cat was tragic, for sure, but Nate just can’t.

“It’s not my fault. Your BFF is the one making us come here —“

“Because you can’t get over your BFF’s trade—“ EJ’s stabbing the cup with the stir stick, now. Nate’s not the one with issues, here.

“Shhh.” He puts a hand on EJ’s elbow. “Daisy,” he hisses, when EJ tries to throw his hand off.

“Fuckin’ Daisy,” EJ mutters. “She’s so nosy.” But he sighs and lets Nate keep his hand where it is. “Sorry,” he says, finally.

3. team you recently became a fan of and how it started

Oh the golden knights! I followed their first year bc the cinderella run with the misfits was so crazy and then it kinda faded and was more a storyline with management decisions. But as a jack eichel fan (and close follower of the medical mishandling of that situation), started following them again when he joined! And while management is kinda suspect, the team is so fun and they vibe so well and play really nice hockey!

Also, I always watch the playoffs by picking teams to bandwagon (since the wings are not in (rip) and its much more fun to have something to be invested in) and if they lose, going to a new team, and the golden knights ended up being my pick by the finals! So was delighted by the cup run and win :) (thanks for providing amazing background content)

[Side note, for the few years the wings were in it while i was a fan, it becomes hate-picking teams to make the team that defeated us lose, lol]

21. do you believe in any hockey curses?

Yes and no. I'm super logical and like, don't believe believe in curses. But also sports are sports and there are definitely curses (lol) like the poor cursed leafs and the president's trophy curse. [maybe a curse is just a confounding factor not yet uncovered. but if the confounder is the team...its a curse]. I do find it more fun to lean into believing them tho, so i do play into it!

giant bt21 shooky pillow: what’s the most warm and fuzzy scene in your wip? share an excerpt

so as i said before i don’t have anything written, but the scene that is the most warm and fuzzy (from what i have outlined so far) in my natedawson country/smalltown/whatever wip is a scene where dawson’s family meets nate and dougie for the first time, knowing they are gay, and dawson, who is going through a bit of a sexuality crisis, watches them interacting and like watching his family basically being cool wirh gay people and it settles something inside of dawson.

also he thinks it’s really sweet to watch nate, the guy he likes, interacting with his family

gold obsidian egg: what do you treasure the most about your wip?

i think the thing i treasure most about any of my wips is the possibility in them. they are like a seed i have planted and i’m nurturing them and helping them grow and i treasure being a part of that process. being able to create something from nothing is one of the true joys of existence and i treasure my ability to do it.

(also i will answer the other ask even though someone already asked it lol. i have many wips that i could answer that question with)

right now jiri patera (first GAME it was a WIN im so proud 🥹) but generally speaking i would like to crawl inside sidney crosby's brain. see whats in there
