Tapgol Park was formerly known as the Pagoda Park, it is a small park in central Seoul. It is built on the site of a Buddhist Temple, it’s name originates from the Wongaksa Pagoda, the 10 storied stone pagoda which can be seen in the park.
There was once a 15th century Buddhist Temple, the park was organized by an Irishman, John McLeavy Brown.
The site was also where the Korean Proclamation of Independence was made in publicly.
