I had the best surprise this morning. My older t. albo./ curly hair sling, Marley (I think he's around 20 months or so? I've had him or her 8 months), went into hiding around the time I thought he/she was getting ready to molt well over 3 months ago, never to be seen again. The 4 month anniversary of the last time I saw him is in exactly a week and 1 day...

I thought Marley was gone. (We've been calling him or her Schrodinger's tarantula). I assumed the molt went very badly, but I didn't have the heart to, er...investigate. I had heard they can go into hiding for like 3 months, so I've just kept misting the enclosure whenever the humidity was getting low, planning to finally (carefully) clean out the enclosure when it had been 4 or 5 months.

So...I'm visiting my mom, two states away, for 5 days, and this morning, my son, who has been checking on my other 4 spiders, sent me 2 messages. First was just a pic of Marley's enclosure, which I barely glanced at, followed by, "IT IS ALIVE!"

I zoomed in a bit and scrolled around, wondering if he was maybe talking about the last dubia roach I'd fed Marley a day or so before he vanished.

NOPE!

I cannot believe he's alive after almost 4 months! He definitely molted in that time, but I can't really judge from the pic if it was once or maybe even twice. He looks very big to me (compared to pre-hiding). Unfortunately, I won't be home till tomorrow, and my son (understandably) refuses to do any live feedings, so he won't get fed till tomorrow, but I'm honestly shocked.

Yes, he's my first T, if that's not obvious. Lol And his enclosure isn't great, but I couldn't find anything right for his size that was top opening except this stupid (too tall) one that also has a front door, which I don't use. If anyone has a suggestion for anything even remotely better, I am very open to (friendly, polite) advice!

Hey guys so uhm

last time I talked about owning my own p. metallica it did not really go too well to put it lightly and after indigo's passing it took me a very long time to even perserve her properly because of the emotional toll

I have gotten another p.metallica sling after a lot of contemplating and I decided to wait a bit before posting anything. Frankly this time it is going quite well

Meet Enigma [Or alternatively Sapphire]

She is a bit older than Indigo, being born on january this year. They also arrived quite ch o n k y wich was good for me because I was worried in case I got another thin one what to do if they also refuse food and such

then after a week of being here, they molted! and god I was glad it went well. She ate today [the picture above is one I took a couple minutes ago with her having a crimket in her mouth] and even took 2 small crickets :0

so yea I really hope it will stay this way and that she will stick with us a long time T_T
