I think I can see where you are going with this completely unique story which obviously hasn't been done before.

do we know when the special is airing? ive seen a lot of articles saying that its an xmas special, but it seems weird that they're filming so far in advance, unless its because of scheduling.

we don't have confirmation that it's a christmas special AND we don't know when it's airing, sorry to say

do you think that diane will appeal cary's conviction or do you think that is it for matt?

As I understand it, Diane can't appeal Cary's conviction because he pleaded guilty. But I do think his legal battles aren't over yet. There are no legal loopholes the writers don't love to find, exploit, and take plenty of liberties with, so I'm sure that if there are ways to get Cary out of prison, the writers are well aware of them. 

As for Matt's future on the show, at this point, I really think it could go either way. Usually the best indicators of where the show is going are structural and... I don't know what the show's structure is right now. I have no clue how relevant Cary's going to be to the show going forward, and I have no clue if Alicia's going to win the election or not, and having two huge unknowns like that makes season seven-- and Matt's future on the show-- a humongous question mark.

happy belated! i was wondering if you would want will to come back (assuming josh is willing) and it what capacity (im partial to the style in "a few words" even though i feel like it would be less effective).

Hmmmm. Maybe? It would definitely have to be as a memory pop of some sort, or as, like, new footage or something that surfaces during Alicia’s campaign. That’s probably what I would be most interested in seeing: the writers wanting to generate new material and asking Josh to pose for a photo or something rather than just using the same promo stills over and over (OR USING PICTURES OF THE ACTORS LIKE THEY DID IN 5x17 WITH THAT PICTURE OF ARCHIE AND JOSH CLEARLY NOT BEING KALINDA AND WILL). I could also get on board for a memory pop episode where Will shows up in a memory pop— would be kind of cool and it’s not a stretch to say that Alicia/Diane/Kalinda would think about Will from time to time. It’d be really great to get a Diane memory pop with Will in it, I think.

I don’t really have any need to see Josh on the show again, though. I’m not set against it— unless it’s a big deal like “AND NOW FOR THE EPISODE WHERE EVERYONE REMEMBERS HOW WILL GARDNER CHANGED THEIR LIVES” in which case no nope never please don’t— but I’m not rooting for it to happen, either.
