today i finished up the chapter of my french workbook sur « le nom et l’adjectif qualitatif » et maintenant je suis au chapitre 2 « les articles ».

i read a tumblr post a while ago on how writing is one of the best things you can do to learn a language so i’m trying out that theory. it does make sense because my hand needs to get used to writing in french and, for example, knowing to write a “le” instead of a “la” in front of gâteau.

for tagalog, i learned about measurements and to be fair, i wasn’t super into it because like ??? i don’t even talk about measurements on a daily basis in english. also, i don’t really remember how to do measurements in french.

to learn tagalog, i’m following a podcast called Go Filipino and i haven’t yet learned how to form full sentences, but the speaker, qui s’appelle Kris, says that he wants for the listener to be able to understand the foundation of the language first, and i respect that. i feel that within language learning. language learning is different for everyone, and there is no #1 perfect way of learning a language. it’s REALLY easy to get ahead of yourself in language learning and then get really frustrated when you don’t understand B1 content when you’re at a A1 level. i feel like this applies to everything in life. like, don’t get ahead of yourself because it kind of just ends in disappointment most of the time.

🇫🇷 french: i love how the language makes me feel about myself when i speak it. i feel badass, pretentious, just all around cool

🇷🇺 russian: by far the way it sounds!! the way the consonants and vowels sound together and mix make my ears happy

(insert flag of the arab league) arabic: i haven’t technically started studying this language yet but so far the coolest thing that’s arose is the history and culture behind the language and the people who speak it

Music from around the world

The goal of this form is to get to know music from all around the world. Hopefully we can get at least one song for every country in the world! - You can submit any song/music that you want as long as you know where it comes from. - You can submit as many songs as you want. - You can also submit songs from a particular region of your country. Here are some examples: La vie en rose - Edith Piaf (France) Dle Yaman - Komitas (Armenia) .... I will publish a list of the results in a few weeks :)

I really love listening to music and discovering music from around the world, and I know most of you love it too. So I thought why not create a google form so that every one can submit songs from around the world? 

If you want to, please submit music from your country or other countries you know well! 

In a few weeks I will publish the results so we can get a great list of music from all around the world :) I hope it will help us discover new songs / music styles and know more about other cultures.

What languages have you been focusing on lately?

Mostly French and Greek, but also Trigedasleng and my own conlang Ätchgö. (: (The Greek is on the down-low though - my family doesn’t know I’m taking private lessons, so the next time we’re all in Greece together … .  >;) …)
