Tarot de Marseille, arcane n°1, le Bateleur
She laughs and in Job’s mind, that is all that matters. He isn’t particularly clever or charming or funny -- wouldn’t protest if anyone called him awkward; naive; a weirdo -- but she laughs at his poor joke nevertheless and he simply cannot help himself but practically beam in return, lips stretched ear-to-ear in a wide grin, eyes no more than narrow slits.
Yes, he’s homeless and, yes, he wishes he weren’t -- but all in all, it’s alright. More often than not he can either afford a place to stay or knows or meets someone kind enough to spare him one for free. More often than not, he can afford something to eat and manages finding himself a paying job. All in all, people are kind to him. Really, he’d call himself more of a drifter than a homeless person (but, admittedly, in the same breath -- Job doesn’t know many home-owners who usually hang out under overpasses).
Besides -- making a pretty girl smile never hurt anyone, has it? Making a pretty girl who’s also being incredibly kind to him smile is a worthwhile bonus.
“That uh -- that’d be mighty kind a you. Much obliged.” Still grinning, he takes the last drag off a cigarette before squashing it against the wall, then places the extinguished butt in the pocket of his jeans, to be thrown in the trash when possible. “Been told I’m an okay cook, too, if you’re hungry. Make a mean chili.” His tone suggests it’s an offer she would be foolish to refuse. “Wash the dishes ‘n all when it’s done, too."
@taromancies, from this.
he doesn’t believe in magic -- or so he keeps telling himself -- but something has certainly brought him straight to her metaphorical doorstep. he’s met aliens and seen strange and unusual things happen. cameron himself cheated death as a teenager. but magic?
still a skeptic.
but he had to know . . .
‘ rumor on the streets is anyone feelin’ lost and unsure of the future should come your way, ’ he says, nonchalant, unwilling to divulge exactly where he’d heard such a rumor. ‘ what’s the going price for a kid just tryin’a figure out what comes next? ’

Candles laid in front of them. A stream of incense smoke, ashy thick, drifted back into their faces, and the breeze that slipped through the window leeched away whatever was left of this room’s fading warmth. Her gaze latched onto him, this soothsayer with her wild, black eyes. He thought back to a time four hundred years ago with a battle, a cry, Aedd Gynvael falling behind his back–
“For what purpose?” he asked, his voice deep but calm. A candle flickered and a shadow danced, hidden in the corner. The orange glow rippled over his face. “Neither I nor you, one who foresees, can undo what has past.”
‘ my kink is not opening messages and pretending theyre not there ’
LAUGHTER FALLS EFFORTLESSLY PRACTICED : resonation hit every chord within him. ah yes , the symphony of isolation / to evade and escape conversation. for izzy , he simply couldn’t be bothered. if the message wasn’t urgent , why respond with haste ? THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE HIS FAMILY. who , within the measurement of a heartbeat , he responds to with great ease and impressive speed. so much so that those who are with him are baffled by the difference in response.
“ WOW , HOW RELATABLE. i’m pretty sure people call that GHOSTING. ” @taromancies

“What is this? No food for your guest? No wine nor---dare I say---even a morsel of your most divine crumpet? In all of my sweet, sweet life, whatever have I done to you?”
Of all the places in the world, his people, his so-called ‘friend’, had suggested he come looking for one wandering witch with the wild black eyes and fiery hair of some such color, hell if even Radovid would know. Badulf’s face twisted in judgment and pain looking around this soothsayer’s 'establishment' and he glanced down at the seat, almost afraid like it’d infect him. For all he knew? Someone could have died here, or worse: a peasant.
character development: 5, 7! :>
character development questions. 5. does your muse have any irrational fears that hold them back in life? do they come from experience (trauma) or is it, for instance, part of a belief system they have?
will has a lot of anxiety about a lot of things, but his real, proper fears are mostly rational, so the closest thing to fit this description would be the reaction he has to meat. it’s not exactly a fear, per say, but the lingering trauma following the discovery that he’d been fed ( and literally infected by ) human meat without his knowledge, and then been so deep undercover that he’d eaten it once being entirely aware of what it was, has ruined it for him indefinitely. he’ll never eat it again, and in some circumstances, depending on how prepared he is — as in, whether he’s eating with company and knows there will be meat on the table or not— the mere sight/smell of it could make him physically ill. beyond that, he gets extremely anxious at the thought of other people preparing his meals without him, regardless of what that meal is, and it takes him years post - hannibal to be alright with eating at restaurants or getting takeout again. he very much prefers to be part of the process so he knows what’s going on his plate.
7. what does your muse get out of relationships (be it friends, family or a significant other)? do they find it energising or exhausting to keep up with?
will has always thrived on positive relationships with family and partners. even when things aren’t perfect, it gives him immense emotional stability to know that he’s not alone in the world; when he was younger, he found that stability in his younger brother, who relied on him enough that he was frequently distracted from his own troubles, and now, he absolutely seeks that in a significant other, because being important to someone just kind of makes him better all around. it exhausts him, but he needs it.
