There was a 90s sitcom called "Chosen by the Birdies" about a family with the last name Birdie. The opening shot was a staticy washed-out clip of a note hanging on a fridge but the quality was too poor to read it, so the narrator stepped in and said, somehow fearful and jovial at the same time, "Oh, look at this! I've been chosen by the Birdies. How... Nice. Let's go!"
It then transitioned to a very young boy drinking coffee by the Tassimo Hot Beverage System in the kitchen. He opened the capsule compartment to reveal a small diamond, which he was going to use to propose to his girlfriend. When she came down she saw it and said, "Wow dad, did you buy this stone for me?" and the uncomfortable father said, "Ah, yes..." while locking eyes with his disappointed son. A laugh track played.
