Bison Are Bringing Back Biodiversity to Britain

In just a few years, the only free-roaming bison herd in the U.K. has already made a tangible difference in the surrounding ecosystem.

European bison released in England’s ancient woodland have doubled in number since 2022, and the woodland has gotten healthier since, reviving previously extinct beetle species and increasing sightings of dormice and reptiles. And England isn’t the only European nation getting bison back in business: In the 1920s, there were just 54 European bison after intense hunting over millennia, but thanks to re-wilding efforts there are now around 10,000, mostly in Russia and Belarus. This painting simultaneously breaks my heart and fills me with awe and hope. When people speak about how prevalent the bison were across Turtle Island I’m not sure if it fully HITS just how many were slaughtered, how much this land relied on them for proper ecological balance….

if we want our land to thrive, if we want the next seven generations to survive then we must help the bison (and the indigenous peoples who love/rely on them) to expand and grow until they are once again found all across the land.

Shawn Michaels defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Tatanka.

During the match, Sensational Sherri prevented interference from Luna Vachon.

In the end, Tatanka won the match by countout after Michaels was unable to get back in the ring, allowing Michaels to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

After the match, Vachon attacked Sherri until Tatanka made the save.
