Another week down, another check in... Last weekend of August too... how time flies! Wrist is doing better but I am making sure to keep is rested often...
Onto project news:
After months of putting it off and following the hard work on Goncharov Escapes!, I am finally working on the re-master/translation of DOL-OS, my winning French Comp game! Along with the English translation, the remaster will include a polish of the UI, more QoL settings, background sound, and re-code of certain parts. I am also considering adding more content (not puzzle, just writing, like more context but also more exploration too).
Since last weekend, I have:
completed 1/3rd to 1/2 of the translation (this includes the first puzzle!!!!!)
mocked-up and started coding the UI of the Guest Account (the User Account will be very similar... for half of it) [See old update preview]
I am rebuilding from scratch here...
updated some of the old code (including editing the << type >> macro to print text without animation when indicating a speed of 0)
my first custom macro :P I legit changed one line...
created an extra asset for the translated puzzle
mocked-up the booting sequence to include the choice of language at the start (and make it more computer-like)
and searched a bit for booting audio (I have a few tracks already)
Honestly, I am so hyped at going back on this project. I think it might be the project I am the most proud of (and the least buggy on release xD). But also, I am ready to be done and shelf it for good!
Looking at my (probably too long) to-do list, I think I have between one and two more weeks of working on this project before an update would be viable. The translation is the major barrier of progress here. If I can finish that quickly, the rest will follow.
Oh happy days!
MelS was given a bit of free time, so he was able to complete the missing content of the investigation part, and knock down some variation of the exploration part. He is far from being done however, and his schedule is not looking empty either...
But he's happy he got to write a bit!
I am chipping away at the review of the Single Choice Jam over at @manonamora-if-reviews. I have a good dozen left before I am done. Some are pretty fun, some are a bit rule breaking, some are quite interesting! I am glad we had a bit of a mix between Parsers, Hypertext, and Visual Novels in there...
If you are looking for some small games to pass the time, consider checking out the entries!
The Orifice Jam is also over. I haven't decided whether I'd be reviewing the entries (some of them are really NSFW)... There are 7 entries to play!
