Luke growing up on tatooine from the canon novel skywalker a family at war(2021)

Apparently owen was reluctant to take in luke at first but beru convinced him to take luke in and eventually he started seeing luke as his own

And owen and beru instilled the value of menial and skilled labor from young age into luke and as soon luke could hold a hydrospanner in his pudgy hand he was put to work and child luke did things like fix the moisture vaporators dotting the landscape clean the filters on the garden humidity sensor controls and other essential chores

And with the small amount of money he had luke would use it on his skyhopper and fly on beggars canyon and just like anakin Luke hated tatooine

And Luke would have friendly racing competitions with his friends and aunt beru hated luke hobby because of how dangerous it was

That's what luke did as a child

Now for luke teen years apparently luke as a teenager wanted to turn his pioliting hobby into a career and wanted to follow his friend biggs darklighter into the imperial academy and while luke didn't like the empire or its rule and the academy had a degree of formality that luke hated he thought it was only way off tatooine because luke wanted a life of adventure and to escape from his aunt and uncle stifling attitudes and style of life

And unlike leia luke was intrigued by the mystery of his birth parents

What if Luke's Yellow jacket was originally Owens and he wears it in remembrance. Yellow to keep one blended in with the sand, leather to keep the sand off when you were speeding. Maybe Owen had used it when he was younger and passed it on to Luke. When he finds his home and parents burnt, he doused what was left of the fire with sand and entered to see what he could salvage from his room. A poncho, a Jacket, a tiny photo, maybe something from his mom. He stuffs it all into the poncho inside pocket we see him wear later. It's all he's got left to take on the falcon. :(

i like how the star wars prequels canonize obi wan being in his 50s in A New Hope. like yeah living on tatooine just Does That to you. considering beru and owen also look way too old for the amount of time that passed, this honestly has some credibility. tatooine is a hard place to live, without many resources and with intense uv and everpresent sand getting in your face

theres no zip codes or pilots licesnes in star wars. whos to say how many freighter pilots are drinking and driving uninsured untested craft through hyperspace and atmosphere
