Bridgeport Academy’s prom is the best time of year for some of these teenagers. The theme, the food, the music - everything is perfect. It was definitely a time to remember for the seniors that attended.
Midway through the prom, the principal, Mrs. Niles stopped the music so she could talk. “Hey kids. Is everyone having a good time?” She asked the students. Everyone yelled and clapped in response “I’m happy to hear that. Now it’s time to announce prom king and prom queen. Our prom king is….Garrett Paulsen! Come up here and give us a speech.”
Garrett smiled and walked up to where Mrs. Niles was. “Thank you to everyone that voted for me. It’s in honor to be this year's prom king and I appreciate it.”
Everyone clapped and listened to Mrs. Niles again. “Now it’s time for our prom queen. Our prom queen is….Riana Gibson! Come on up here!”
Riana stood there in shock trying to process what just happened. She walked up to where Mrs. Niles & Garrett were. “Um..thank you to everyone that voted for me. I actually didn’t think I would win but I’m very grateful that I did. Thank you again”
“Give them a round of applause everyone!” Everyone started clapping and cheering. “Now can I prom king and prom queen get on the floor for their dance.”

“I’m sorry you had to find out the way that you did. I really like Natalie and I promise you, I won’t break her heart.” Kai put his hand out in front Myles. “Bros?”
Myles smiled and grabbed Kai’s hand to pull him into a hug. “Bros.”
“About time!” Rylee shouted. “We got the group back right in time for prom.”
“Oh yea. Well this sucks, I’m going to be the only one without a date.” Myles said.
“No you won’t.” Kai smiled. “Natalie can’t go to our prom because she’s a sophomore so it’s still going to be just the two of us, only you’ll be the one getting some girls numbers.”
Myles chuckled. “More for me.”
Tatum picked up his drink he got from Wendy’s. “I think we need to make a toast.” Everyone raised their drink. “To friends.”
“To friends.” They all said together.

Kai cleared his throat. “I tried my best to avoid Natalie and respect your wishes but she was very persistent. When we finally did get together it just felt right. Of course as soon as I asked her out I wanted to tell you but Natalie said that she would tell you because she knew how upset you would be. Trust me. I didn’t want to keep this away from you.”
“But you don’t get it. It’s just weird that you’re dating my sister. Like isn’t it weird?” Myles asked. “Think about me dating one of you guys’ sisters.”
Tatum shook head. “Well I don’t have a sister so can’t relate to that one.”
Rylee bursted out laughing. “I don’t care if you date my sister. Also I know both of my sisters can’t stand you guys.”
Kai chuckled. “It would be weird if you dated my sister only because one of my sisters is in middle school and the other one just started elementary school.”
Myles sighed. “I just don’t want my sister's heart to be broken.”
“Myles, think about it. Have you ever heard of me breaking a girl's heart?”
Myles quietly thought about it. He was right.

It’s been a couple weeks since Myles caught his best friend Kai with his little sister Natalie. His life hasn’t been the same since. He doesn’t hang out with his group of friends anymore and Natalie has been giving him the cold shoulder. Obviously he missed hanging out with his friends but he can’t get over the betrayal of Kai.
One random Spring day, Tatum invited Myles for lunch on top of the school’s roof. The group of friends usually eat up there when they order takeout food. Myles was going to say no but Tatum insisted that it was just going to be him and Rylee.
To Myles surprise, that was a lie. Once he got to the roof of the school, he saw Tatum, Rylee and Kai with their food from Wendy’s. Myles sighed. “I should’ve known that he was going to be there.”
“Come on Myles. You guys have been friends ever since our freshman year. Let’s not let this fight break up our friendship group.” Rylee plea.
Tatum chimes in. “Look you two need to talk. This whole ‘not talking to each other’ is stupid.”
“I don’t think it’s stupid.” Myles shrugged his shoulders. “I think it’s a perfect reason to not talk to him.”
Kai stood up. “See, we’re not going to act like I’m not here. All I need from you is for you to listen to me. No talking back, just listen.”
