I’ve been reading and listening to just a fuck ton of pony fic because I’m essentially playing catch up seeing as I got into the fandom in like late 2020. And currently I’m making my way through Allegrezza and just. Finally. FINALLY a fic with a depiction of Lyra Heartstrings I actually Like.

I super enjoy TaviScratch and have since I first started searching around for fan content but even fics I’ve enjoyed that had LyraBon in there as a side ship have never had a good depiction of Lyra. (And really I’ve only liked one Bon Bon and that’s University Days Bon)

Usually it’s the human thing that ruins it. Fic writers using that as a personality trait makes her come off as just a meme and that. Like. It’s funny in short comics or art but in chapter fics it just. It means there’s nothing to her except for that one jokey bit.

But here they’ve chosen to make her Octavia’s rival and Bon Bon’s wife and oh my gosh I love that, that’s so much better. Her and Tavi snapping at each other is hilariously vicious and the way she gets all protective of Bon when Octavia insults her is super sweet. I especially love that they’re using her cutiemark for characterization too! There’s sometimes this idea I see that suggests Lyra isn’t that great of a musician but! That’s her special talent! She should be a good lyrist!

Anyway. More of this. And I mean that literally. If any of y’all have any LyraBon fic recs that aren’t just ‘Lyra is obsessed with humans’ I would read them in a heartbeat!
